Creamy Chicken Parmesan Recipe

This Million Dollar Chicken Parmesan is the ultimate Italian chicken dish! Pan-seared chicken topped with a creamy cheese and pesto mixture and baked in marinara sauce. SO good! I will take this meal over a restaurant any day of the week.

The chicken is topped with my million dollar combination of cottage cheese, cream cheese, and sour cream. I added pesto to kick it up a notch. The cottage cheese mixture gives the dish a nice creaminess and the pesto adds even more deliciousness to the dish. All you need is a salad and some garlic bread for a meal the whole family will enjoy.

How to Make Million Dollar Chicken Parmesan

This chicken is very easy to make with only a few simple ingredients. Start with pounding some chicken breasts to an even thickness. Combine Italian bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning in a shallow dish or plate. Whisk together two eggs and place them in another shallow plate or dish. Coat chicken breast flour, dip into the eggs, and then into the bread crumb mixture.

Heat olive oil in skillet. Cook chicken breasts for three minutes on each side. Pour spaghetti sauce into a baking dish. Place chicken breasts on top of sauce. Mix together cottage cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, and pesto. Spread over the chicken breasts, top with mozzarella cheese, and bake. Serve over your favorite pasta.

  • My favorite store-bought spaghetti sauces are Trader Joe’s Roasted Garlic Marinara (green label), Rao’s, and La Famiglia DelGrosso.
  • You can use freshly grated or canned parmesan cheese.
  • You want the cream cheese to be very soft so it gets fully incorporated into the topping. Microwave the cream cheese for 15 to 20 seconds if you are short on time.
  • If you are short on time and need a shortcut, you can substitute frozen breaded chicken breast for the freshly breaded and pan seared chicken breasts in this recipe.
  • For a gluten-free or low-carb dish, substitute crushed pork rinds for bread crumbs.
  • Can Million Dollar Chicken Parmesan be made in advance? You can pan-sear the chicken ahead of time and refrigerate it overnight. When you are ready to bake the chicken, finish assembling the dish and bake.
