How to Make Ham and Cheese Quiche

This recipe is super duper easy to make with only a few simple ingredients. Place diced ham and shredded cheese in the bottom of a pie crust. In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Pour the egg mixture over the ham. Place the quiche on a baking pan and bake in a preheated oven until set. Garnish with parsley.

Helpful Tips & Frequently Asked Questions

  • I like to sauté the cooked ham in the skillet before adding it to the pie crust. I find that some cooked ham has high water content and can make the quiche runny.
  • I did not thaw or precook the frozen pie crust before filling it.
    • You can use a store-bought pie crust or homemade pie dough. Either is just fine.
  • Feel free to add your favorite veggies to the quiche:
    • onion
    • bell pepper
    • mushrooms
    • broccoli
    • spinach
    • green onions
    • diced tomatoes
  • I use swiss cheese in this dish. You can use any cheese you like – sharp cheddar cheese, gouda cheese, or gruyere cheese are all delicious.
  • Can Homemade Quiche be made in advance? Yes! You can assemble the quiche ahead of time and refrigerate it overnight.
  • Can Homemade Quiche be frozen? Yes! You can make this quiche ahead of time and freeze it baked or unbaked for later.
    • I prefer to freeze the quiche unbaked. Assemble the quiche and place in the freezer. Once the quiche is frozen, place it in a freezer bag. When ready to bake, thaw the quiche in the refrigerator before baking as directed below.
    • To freeze the baked quiche, Let the quiche cool to room temperature and wrap the pie plate with plastic wrap and aluminum foil. When ready to reheat, thaw and reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
  • How long will Homemade Quiche last? The quiche will keep covered in the fridge for 3 to 4 days.
