Pizza Spaghetti Bake

I love pizza.  I have been eating mostly pizza for as long as I can remember.  It doesn't matter what kind of pizza it is - homemade, delivery, frozen, deli, cheap, expensive - I'll eat it!  My other favorite food is pasta.  This is a nice twist on a regular spaghetti dinner.  I love the addition of the sausage and pepperoni.  I don't usually like to eat pepperoni because it is so greasy.  This recipe uses turkey pepperoni (much less greasy) that you saute in the skillet to get it all nice and crispy.  I really liked the crispy pepperoni; I've started adding it to my pizza.   This pasta bake has great flavor and is really easy to throw together after work!  I only made a half-batch of the pasta.  It was plenty for just the two of us.

(Printable Recipe)

12 ounces uncooked spaghetti
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (1-lb.) package mild ground pork sausage
2 ounces turkey pepperoni slices (about 30), cut in half
1 (26-oz.) jar tomato-and-basil pasta sauce
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 (8-oz.) package shredded Italian three-cheese blend

Cook spaghetti with 1/2 tsp. salt according to package directions. Drain well, and place in a lightly greased 13- x 9-inch baking dish. Brown sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes or until meat crumbles and is no longer pink. Drain and set aside. Wipe skillet clean. Add pepperoni, and cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 4 minutes or until slightly crisp. Top spaghetti in baking dish with sausage; pour pasta sauce over sausage. Arrange half of pepperoni slices evenly over pasta sauce. Sprinkle evenly with cheeses. Arrange remaining half of pepperoni slices evenly over cheese. Cover with nonstick or lightly greased aluminum foil.

Bake at 350° for 30 minutes; remove foil, and bake 10 more minutes or until cheese is melted and just begins to brown.

  12. Steph...your blog is amazing! I wanted to let you know of something I do that you might like. I take pepperoni slices, place them on a paper towel lined (I used about 3-4 paper towels) microwave-safe plate and nuke them in the microwave for approx 1 to 1 1/2 minutes until crispy...these are delish added on a pizza, in a salad, in a pasta dish or for just plain old snacking. Thanks for sharing your recipes & blog with us!
