It's Football Friday again! This week is championship week in college football. The teams playing National Championship will be named on Sunday, and then we sit and wait until 1/10/11 to find out who wins.
I've seen this recipe for Broken Glass Jello around the food blog world for a while. I have just been waiting on an occassion to make it and football season seemed like the perfect time. We had a big cookout a few weeks ago, and I brought this dessert for the kids (and adults). It tasted great and looked fantastic (very festive)!
This recipe is great for any occassion. You can easily change the colors to match your team or party theme. I think red and green would be great for Christmas.
Broken Glass JelloJust Jenn
- 4 small boxes of jello, different colors
- 1 can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
- 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
For each flavor, dissolve one box of jello in one cup of boiling water. Pour into an 8x8 container and chill until firm (overnight is best).
After chilling the four flavors, cut them into small blocks and toss the blocks in a 9 x 13 pan. In a separate bowl, sprinkle 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin into 1/2 cup cold water. After the gelatin blooms, add 1 1/2 cup boiling water and dissolve. Add the can of condensed milk. Stir and cool. Pour cooled milk mixture over jello and chill overnight. Cut into blocks or shapes and serve.
