Easy Pizza Casserole Made with Biscuits

This Bubble Up Pizza is an oldie but a goodie.  I haven’t made this in forever.  I had forgotten how good it is.  This is one of the very first Pampered Chef recipes I ever made.  It is quick, easy and GOOD!

How to Make Bubble Up Pizza

This casserole is super simple make. Cut refrigerated biscuits into quarters and place in medium bowl. Toss biscuits with pizza sauce. Add pizza topping and half of the cheese. Toss until well blended. Spray a 9×13 pan with cooking spray. Pour biscuit mixture into pan and top with remaining cheese and bake.

  • I use the smaller Pillsbury biscuits. Look for 6-oz (5-count) or 12-oz (10-count) cans. You will need 10 biscuits in total.
  • If you use a can of the larger Grands! Biscuits, you will need to cook the casserole longer to get the biscuits to cook. You can also use one less biscuit and keep the cooking time the same.

What to Serve with Pizza

This pizza casserole is full of flavor and easy to customize to your family’s taste.  We used sausage and turkey pepperoni because that is what I like.  (When you are the cook, you get to make it the way you like it.)  I may add some mushrooms to half of the pizza next time for Chicken Legs. Whip up a salad and you are set!  This will definitely be going back in the rotation for pizza night!

  1. I made this Saturday night for my girls while we put away Christmas decorations. They ate the whole thing and asked me to add it to the rotation. Thanks.

  2. This was so good! We added our favorite toppings and my family loved it! I always read comments and noticed some saying their biscuits weren’t done enough. I will say that the smaller biscuits that are shown in the recipe are a must. I can see how bigger, thicker biscuits wouldn’t get done. The only thing I did differently with mine was the temp I baked it. The biscuit can says 400 degrees so I baked this at 400 uncovered for 20 minutes, covered for 10 so the top wouldn’t get too brown then another few minutes uncovered. I thought the biscuits were perfect! This will definitely be in our regular meal rotation!

  3. Thank you I thought so too. I am having some trouble getting the biscuits to get done though. I follow the directions and they are still doughy so sometimes its an hr for me to get done andI am using the grands jr biscuits

  4. so is this one can or two cans of biscuits? I can only find 6 oz cans of jr grands so I use both but from reading seems like some people are using 24 oz of biscuits!

    1. I use the equivalent of 2 6-oz cans of grands jr biscuits. 24-oz of biscuits is WAY too much. Don't follow the comments. Follow my directions above. I recently made this and made it as written. Turned out like the photos.

  5. Stephanie, I made this recipe last night and used spaghetti sauce instead of Pizza, But the rest of the ingredients were the same. The top was nice and golden brown but when we went to eat it I noticed the biscuits inside were still really raw.. Is there something different I could have done? When I make the Bubble up Cordon Bleu I never have that issue I cooked it for 30 Mins.. What are your thoughts?

  6. I am making this for the first time tonight–trying BBQ sauce, chicken pieces(already cooked), onions and mozzarella cheese…looking forward to it! My husband is super picky about pizza, but loves the bbq chicken kind–so I hope my version doesn't disappoint!

  7. Kim – so glad to hear your family loved the bubble up pizza!! Make sure to check out the white bubble up pizza and bubble up enchiladas!

  8. My whole family LOVED this! So simple and delicious. Will definitely be going into the regular rotation. Thanks!!

  9. I am so happy I found this recipe. I'm cooking in Berlin, DE, so the measurements are a little different. It worked out because the portions are smaller, so I was able to scale it down. I used 16oz of biscuits, 12.35oz of spaghetti sauce, and I used 2 cups of mozzarella (we're cheese lovers). I added one raw green & red bell pepper to the mixture and cooked ground beef and thinly sliced onions before adding it to the mix. I baked for 30 minutes and it came out perfect. Great as leftovers as well. Thanks for sharing!

  10. Cathy – I just checked and the Grands and Grands JR are the same overall weight. I think you can use the two cans of Grands and be OK.

  11. I accidently grabbed regular grands bisquits not the jr ones how do you think those would work?would I just use one can maybe?

    1. I always use the regular grands biscuits with these. I've never seen the juniors in any of my stores 🙁 I use both cans, and just check the middle for doneness before I pull it out.

  12. I tried this and found that the biscuits were still raw in the center of the pan after 25 min @375. So I bumped the heat up to 425, covered in foil and let cook another 20 min. Perfect.

  13. This is so good, that a young bear tried to come in a window on the back of our house while I was baking this. That is the honest truth. We had the windows open because of the warm weather and I heard this strange noise at the back of the house. He wasn't quite tall enough to reach through the screen, but he left his claw marks. So now you now how good it is, the scent wafting out will attract anyone!!

  14. Holy cow! This is sooooooo good! I could eat the entire pan by myself! We have been in a pizza rut lately and this new version is wonderful!

  15. Mine didn't cook all the way through, either. The middle was doughy – even after trying to rebake. The parts that were cooked through were great!

  16. I made this and the center wouldn't quite cook all the way and the edges were burning. did anyone else have this problem? the taste was delicious, I just don't know how I can get it to cook evenly.

  17. I made this tonight and my family loved it! I went back for seconds, which is nothing new. But when my very picky 9-year-old son went back for seconds, I almost fell out of my chair! Thanks for a great recipe! It was easy, cheap, and quick!

  18. I made this last night (with turkey pepperoni and mushrooms), and it was delish! I loved the crusty edges…thanks!

  19. Julia – I'd definitely try it! I would not unroll the crescent dough and cut the log it into 10 rounds and quarter those. I bet it will be good!

  20. I made this Sunday after church and it was a hit w/ my husband! The prep work is a cinch and the bake time is quick making it a great anytime meal! This will get put into the rotation of recipes!YUM-O! Thanks.

  21. We've made this one too when we bought the Pampered Chef stone ware stuff several years ago. It is very filling!

  22. WOW! This sounds so good and so easy!Perfect for a weeknight meal! My kids would devour this, myself included : )
