Waffle Crusted Chicken Tenders - Chicken & Waffles

This is my take on chicken and waffles- waffle crusted chicken tenders!  These were so good and so much fun to eat!

This was a great weeknight meal.  I used frozen waffles and pulsed them in the food processor to make the crumbs.  We drizzled the chicken tenders with honey and used some honey BBQ sauce for dipping.  You could skip the BBQ sauce and just use more honey or nothing at all.   No matter what you decide to dip them in, give them a try ASAP!

Waffle Crusted Chicken Tenders
(Printable Recipe)

1 lb chicken tenders
4-5 frozen waffles (I used Eggo Homestyle waffles)
1 egg
1 tsp seasoned salt (Lawhorn's)
honey
cooking spray

Preheat oven to 450°F. Spray cookie sheet with nonstick cooking spray.

Cook waffles according to package directions.  Put cooked waffles in food process and pulse until waffles are a fine crumb. Pour crumbs on a baking pan and bake for 5 minutes (to dry them out).  Pour crumbs on a large plate.

In shallow dish, beat egg slightly. Sprinkle tenders with seasoned salt. Dip the chicken tenders in egg and then dredge in waffle crumbs.

Place chicken tenders on the cookie sheet. Lightly spray chicken with cooking spray. Bake 15 minutes. Drizzle cooked tenders with honey.

Oh my gosh, my maiden name is Lawhorn, and I couldn't believe it when I saw that was the name of your seasoning. I thought you meant Lawry's, but when I looked it up, I found the company. I've never heard of their company, but I left them a message on their blog. :)

This looks delicious, BTW.

I made these tonight. I used Multi-Grain "Healthy" waffles. Turned out amazing and will be added to the regular menu. So easy too. I had everything plated in half an hour. I paired it with some sweet potato fries.

Thanks so much!
