4th of July Flag Cake


Are you looking for a 4th of July dessert with a lot of "wow factor"?  Well, look no further than this 4th of July Flag Cake!  Isn't it amazing?!  This is much easier than it looks.  I used a box cake mix and made some buttercream frosting, but feel free to use canned frosting or make both from scratch.  If you use canned frosting, beat it with your mixer before frosting the cake.  It will give it a nice light and fluffy texture.

Ground Beef & Baked Bean Casserole


No BBQ dinner is complete without a good side of baked beans.  We served these beans with the ribs we posted yesterday.  We both loved these beans.  They reminded Chicken Legs of the Tequila Beans at J. Alexander's, his favorite.  The beans have a wonderful flavor and are a breeze to make. You might want to double the recipe if you are feeding a crowd.  Chicken Legs ate almost half of the pan by himself!

Fall Off The Bone Ribs


The 4th of July is right around the corner.  How will you be celebrating?  We will be grilling and chilling.  This week we will sharing all the recipes that we will be making for our celebration.

First up are these ribs.  We've tried to make ribs in the past. They were good but not great. I ran across this method of cooking ribs and decided to give it a try.  OMG - these ribs were un-freakin-believable!  Fall off the bone tender.  They were hands down the best ribs we've ever made.

Don't tell your guests, but these ribs are actually really simple to make.  They require very little hands on cooking time.  All you have to do is put the dry rub on the ribs, wrap them up in foil, bake them in the oven for 3 hours and then finish them off on the grill with some BBQ sauce.  This is our new go-to recipe for ribs.  These would be great for your 4th of July feast or even a football tailgate this fall.

Slow Cooker Bolognese & Homemade Pasta


One resolution down!  I finally made homemade pasta with my KitchenAid pasta attachment.  It was a lot of fun to make and so much easier than I thought it would be.

Since I was making pasta I didn't want to spend a lot of time making the sauce to go with it.  I decided to make this easy slow cooker bolognese.  It only took a few minutes to throw together and simmered in the crockpot all day.  Everything was fantastic.  We especially loved the homemade pasta.  I can't wait to try out all the other shapes of pasta that came with the attachment.

Cinnamon Roll Pulls


I've been seeing a lot of different versions of this bread floating around the internet. All of the versions I've seen are savory and use lots of cheese. While I love a good cheesy bread, I decided to go in a different direction and make a sweet version. I settled on a cinnamon roll version.

This bread is SO addictive. We could not stop pulling off pieces of this delicious cinnamon sugar bread and popping it in our mouths. The Vanilla Honey Butter that I used in the bread is amazing. You must make it. It absolutely makes the dish! It was so good that I could have eaten it with a spoon. I didn't, but I could have. Give this bread a try for breakfast, brunch or even dessert. It is quick and makes a great presentation.

Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadilla


A few weeks ago I shared a Pizzadilla recipe.  It was fantastic!  I decided to try another quesadilla recipe for dinner.  This time I combined chicken, bacon and ranch dressing for a fantastic treat!  I used Perdue Chicken Strips and some precooked bacon.  I added some mushrooms to Chicken Leg's quesadilla.  That is what I love about this recipe - you can customize the quesadilla without any extra time and energy.  We both absolutely loved this.  This is a great recipe if you need a super quick lunch, dinner or snack.  This will be a regular weekend lunch at our house.

Potato Chip Crusted Chicken


Chicken fingers are one of my favorite weeknight meals.  They are quick and easy to whip up after work.  I've had this recipe bookmarked for a long time and I finally got around to trying it.

This recipe uses my favorite potato chips - Lay's Baked Sour Cream & Onion Chips.  I wasn't sure how they would mix with the parmesan cheese and basil, but they were fantastic.  Chicken Leg's is still talking about how good these chicken fingers were.  They will be going in the regular rotation.

Rocky Road Brownies


We are finishing the week on a sweet note - Rocky Road Brownies! O-M-G!  These brownies were AMAZING!  I could not stop eating them.

This recipe is slightly adapted from The Fat Witch Bakery recipe.  I love their original brownie recipe, so I knew this would be good.  The original recipe uses peanut butter chips, which I love.  I substituted butterscotch chips because I needed to use up the leftovers from the Rocky Road Cookies I made last week.   Like I said, these were AWESOME!  We both ate way too many of these, but they were worth every single calorie.

Buffalo Chicken Crescents


A few weeks ago we made Parmesan Chicken Crescents. They were a huge hit in our house. I immediately started thinking about what else I could make with chicken fingers and crescents, and I came up with these Buffalo Chicken Crescents. They were fantastic!! We served them with fries, because you can't eat wings without fries. Well, at least that is the rule in our house.

I instantly thought this would be perfect for Father's Day - since most men I know love wings and fries. This recipe is quick and easy enough for the kids to help prepare. Make this for lunch or dinner on Sunday; I guarantee everyone will love it!

BBQ Burger


We love to grill burgers.  Our favorite is the Morton's Million Dollar Burger.  They are the best burgers ever!  Seriously!!  We are always tweaking the Morton's recipe to make different flavored burgers.  This time we made some amazing BBQ Burgers.  

Oh man, these burgers were delicious.  We topped the burgers with a big slice of cheddar cheese, bacon and barbecue sauce.  If you wanted to get really crazy, you could even add some grilled onions on top!   These burgers would be perfect for Father's Day this weekend or the 4th of July in a few weeks.

Easy Biscuit Waffles


Are you looking for the easiest breakfast recipe ever?  Well, look no further.  These waffles are made with only one ingredient - canned biscuits!  You can have fresh waffles on your plate in 90 seconds. This recipe could make me change my mind about making breakfast during the week!  I think these are even easier than frozen waffles.  I know they are cheaper!

Chicken Legs suggested this would be a great meal for the kids to make for Dad this weekend.  Chicken Legs made some of these himself, so I know your kids can do it! :)
