I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas! Our holiday was very nice and relaxing.
I wanted to share some of the amazing food we ate on our recent trip to Disney World. (If you follow me on
twitter, you probably already saw some of this - I tweet a lot on vacation) We ate a TON, but we also walked over 41 miles in our 4 1/2 days in the parks.
The first treat we had was this Carrot Cake Cookie from the Writer's Stop in Hollywood Studios.
It is basically a HUGE carrot cake whoopie pie filled with a wonderful cream cheese icing.
I found out about this treat from the
Disney Food Blog. The Disney Food Blog is a great source for eating in Disney World and Disneyland. I have found out about so many goodies that I would have never known about. Make sure to check it out before you take a trip to Disney!
We went to Mickeys' Very Merry Christmas Party on the first night of our trip. On our way back to the hotel we stopped off at the Main Street Bakery to check out the treats.
Turkey Leg Rice Krispie Treats
Mickey & Minnie Candy Apples
We saw these super cute Snowman Apples - going to have to try and recreate these at home next year!
Chicken Legs settled on this peanut butter chocolate rice krispie treat - it was good!!
The next day we headed over to Universal so I could go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It was amazing. It looked like a scene out of the movies.
We shared a butter beer. It was surprisingly good. (Tasted like a buttery nipple shot)
We walked a ton and needed a Butterfinger Brownie to refuel before we headed back to the hotel. It was great! I envision a homemade version soon.
Dinner that night was at Via Napoli in Epcot. We ate at their sister restaurant in NYC last year, and we were anxious to try out the place in Disney.
I loved the pizza ovens!
We started off with some arancini - SO good!
We split this pizza - we ate more than I care to admit. It was really good.
We hit Animal Kingdom the next day. The Safari & Everest are our favorite attractions! Lunch was at Restaurantosaurus in DinoLand. It was good, and they have free drink refills!!
Chicken Legs had the burger and fries.
I had the chicken nuggets. They were really good and there were a ton of them!
Dessert was the famous homemade ice cream sandwich at Dino-Bite Snacks. It right outside of the Restaurantosaurus, where we ate for lunch. According to the
Disney Food Blog, there are only 5 places in Disney World to get a homemade ice cream sandwich. It is worth it to find one of those places.
We shared it - it was HUGE!
We made reservations for lunch the next day at the Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom. I had
read that their burger was one of the best in Disney World. The burger is only available for lunch, so we
had to check it out.
I got the bacon and cheese burger.
Chicken Legs went with the mushroom and swiss burger.
The burgers are huge. We could have easily shared one. They were definitely better than other burgers in the park. They also have free drink refills!
The highlight of the meal was the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. Best dessert we've had at Disney World, hands down!
After all that food for lunch, we did a lot of walking around Magic Kingdom and then headed over to Epcot. We rode a few rides there and then headed over to check out the countries.
We snacked on some freshly made caramel popcorn in Germany. SO good. Get the small - it is more than enough.
Our last day in the parks, we hit all our favorite rides. My very favorite ride is Tower of Terror in Hollywood Studios. I could ride it all day long.
We went over to Downtown Disney to check it out.
We saw these cute Minnie & Mickey Rice Krispie cakes at Goofy's Candy Company. I am going to order one for Chicken Legs next time we go to Disney.
We ate so many great things on our trip, but I still have several things on my "to eat list". I started a board on
Pinterest to keep up with everything. Let me know if I need to add anything to it. We are always looking for new snacks and places to eat!
I also bought 4 Disney cookbooks. There are tons of great recipes that I have bookmarked to try in the upcoming months!
