Bacon and Cheese Stuffed Burgers

Burgers are one of our favorite things to grill.  I’ve been watching a lot of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and on one episode that went to a “joint” that made stuffed burgers.  They looked SO good.  I decided to give them a try.  I kept it simple and stuffed the burgers with bacon and cheese.  OMG – so good and so much fun to eat!  The stuffing possibilities are endless – mushrooms, peppers or onions would all be good.  Get the family involved and let everyone stuff their own burger with their favorite toppings. These would be a great addition to your 4th of July cookout!

Bacon and Cheese Stuffed Burgers
(Printable Recipe)
3 hamburgers

  • 1 lb hamburger
  • 1 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 3 slices cheese
  • 3 slices cooked bacon (I used precooked bacon)

Combine hamburger, Worcestershire, salt and pepper.  Divide into 6 patties.  Fold cheese slice into a square and chop bacon.  Lay one slice of cheese (folded) and one slice of bacon (chopped) on top of the single patty, top with another patty.  Seal edges.  Repeat with remaining patties.  Grill/Fry/Broil until the desired doneness.

  1. The Preacher's Wife Musings – It sound like you could be stuffing too much cheese inside. I used cheese slices, maybe that made a difference. I put the cheese and bacon right in the middle and pressed the edges together.

  2. I'm at a loss. I have attempted to make stuffed burgers MANY times, and I even have one of those handy dandy pocket burger press things, but I can't figure out how to make mine/grill it to where the stuffings won't fall out. I have sealed the sides, I don't press down on the grill, etc, but all the cheese just "goes away". what am I missing?

  3. Jucy lucy burgers are the best and really not that much harder to make. I have a few burger pocket tools but it is just as easy by hand.
