Easy Tiramisu & Cheesecake Dessert

Stop what you are doing and add this Tiramisu Love Cake to your menu. This cake is to-die-for delicious! Chocolate cake with a layer of cheesecake and topped with a light Kahlua frosting. SO good! I could eat the top layer with a spoon. If you like tiramisu, you are going to LOVE this cake! This is the kind of cake that gets better as it sits. It is a great dessert to make ahead for a party. We both LOVED this cake!

How to Make Tiramisu Love Cake with Cake Mix

As I said, this cake is super easy to make. It starts with a box of devil’s food cake mix. Mix the cake with the eggs and oil called for on the back of the package. Add water and Kahlua and mix well. Pour the batter into a cake pan. Next, mix up the cheesecake layer. Ricotta cheese, eggs, sugar, and vanilla. Pour the cheesecake batter evenly over the chocolate cake batter and bake.

The layers will reverse as the cake bakes. The cheesecake layer will end up on the bottom and the chocolate cake will be on top. The final step is to frost the cake. Mix together a box of chocolate pudding, milk, Kahlua, and Cool Whip. Spread over the cake and refrigerate until ready to serve.

  • I used Duncan Hines Devils Food Cake mix.
  • Do NOT make the pudding. You are only using the mix.
  • You can use any flavor of pudding that you prefer. Chocolate, vanilla, white chocolate would all be good.
  • You can use low-fat or non-fat Cool Whip.
  • Can Triamisu Love Cake Be Made in Advance? Yes. The cake can be made a day in advance and refrigerated overnight. This cake actually tastes better after being refrigerated.

  1. Help! All I could find were 2 3.9 oz boxes of instant pudding mix. How do I figure out how much to use to equal the 5.1 oz. box of pudding mix?

  2. I have made this cake a half dozen times and it has always turned out perfect. Except today, the layers did not reverse, kind of half and half. I used the same ingredients. nothing different. any hint as to what may have happened?

  3. My layers did not reverse. I'm wondering if it was the chocolate cake mix I used. It called for butter/eggs/milk instead of oil/eggs/water.
Also, It has completely filled my 9×13 and there is no room for the Cool Whip/pudding layer!
I'll bet it's still going to taste good though!!

  4. Hi,
I have a question about this cake – in the photo, the cream (light color) is on the bottom but your recipe states to put the cake batter in the pan first. Does the cake rise above the cream layer or is the recipe in the wrong order?
    Hope to hear from you.
    Thanks,
    Roberta

  5. I didn't put the water in the cake mix only the egg, oil and 1/4 cup Kalua. Was I supposed to make the cake mix as regular, 1 1/4 cup water, eggs, oil and Kalua?

    1. Steph, I am a long time fan & love your recipes! I think some of the confusion is due to the fact that the ingreds. list "1 cup water" but the "water" isn't mentioned in the narrative steps. Please let me know if the water is in or out :o) I can't wait to make this insanely delicious looking cake! Thank you…

  6. This is in the oven and I'm scared. 🙁 looks like the cheese layer is getting squished into the middle as the cake comes up around the sides. I'll let you know final verdict.

  7. Steph this looks amazing!! I love tiramisu in ANY form. Pinning. Thanks for another great recipe!
