Destin, FL Vacation (Where to Eat)

We recently went to Destin, FL for the Sandestin Wine Festival. You can read all about the wine festival *here*. We managed to fit in lunch and dinner at a few of our favorite places while we were in town. We didn’t get to all of them. Chicken Legs is already asking to go back. I’m sure we can fit in a weekend at the beach in June or July.
Our first stop was Pompano Joe’s.
We LOVE Pompano Joe’s. Not only is the food good, it is right on the beach.
We got a table outside on the deck. The weather was absolutely perfect!
We started with the fried mozzarella sticks. They were good and crispy!
Chicken Legs got the blackened grouper sandwich. It looked amazing!
I went with the Jerk BBQ Chicken -it was Jerk seasoned chicken breast, grilled and topped with a Voodoo sauce and melted cheddar cheese. YUM!
Both sandwiches were served with pineapple slaw.
I have my own version of their pineapple slaw on the blog.
You can get the recipe *here*.
We stopped in at Travina in the Grand Boulevard Shopping are at Sandestin for Happy Hour.
We got a couple of martinis and an order of Italian Nachos – lightly fried chips, Italian sausage, mozzarella, black olives, tomatoes, scallions, banana peppers, asiago cream sauce.
We got the nachos without black olives. They were delicious!
I will be recreating them at home very soon.
After Happy Hour, we headed over to the Sandestin Hilton to watch the sunset.

We loved our super long shadows.
The sunset was absolutely beautiful!
Dinner was at our favorite place, Ocean Club.
Ocean Club is located near the entrance to the ocean side of Sandestin.
We love to eat here. They have great food and live music.
I think we were the only tourists in the restaurant.
It was packed and people were out on the dance floor getting down!
We didn’t have our dancing shoes on, so we just watched everyone else.
Next time we will boogie down!
Chicken Legs got sushi for dinner. He got a Spicy Tuna Roll and an Eagle Roll.
Eagle Roll – yellowtail, green onions, spicy sauce and topped with salmon.
Spicy Tuna Roll – tuna, green onions and spicy sauce.
He loved every bite!
I went with the Chicken Breast with lemon caper sauce, linguine, basil, olive oil, garlic and reggiano.
It was so good! I wanted to lick my plate.
I have a homemade version of this dish on the blog.
You can find it *here*.
We ate lunch at The Red Bar before we went to the Sandestin Wine Festival.
We wanted to make sure we had a full stomach so we didn’t get drunk!
The Red Bar is a favorite of people on 30A.
I love the eclectic decor inside!
One thing you need to know before you head to The Red Bar, they only take cash.
They have an ATM machine in the back incase you don’t have any on hand.
Chicken Legs started with a Bloody Mary – look at all the garnish!
I got the cheeseburger and fries for lunch. It was one of the best burgers I’ve had at the beach.
Chicken Legs got the grouper fingers and fries. He loved it!
After lunch we headed over to the Sandestin Wine Festival.
We had a blast drinking our way around Baytowne!
We found a new favorite cocktail, The Pink Bikini, and a new wine, Albarino.
After the wine festival we went back over to the Sandestin Hilton to watch the sunset.
Beautiful!
Dinner was at the Sandestin Hilton’s Seagar’s Restaurant.
It was a real treat! The food is delicious and the waitstaff is second to none.
The Parker House Rolls were SO good. I wanted to eat about 10 of these rolls.
Chicken Legs ordered a Caesar Salad. They prepared it table side and told us every ingredient they added to make the dressing. It was crazy good.
I got the crab cake to start. It came out as three little crab cake balls. It was really good.
For dinner, I got the 8oz filet.
All the steaks at Seagar’s are USDA Prime Black Diamond, the highest designation of the eight grades given to beef by the U.S. government.
I couldn’t pass that up. It was delicious!
Chicken Legs ordered the lamb chops. He loved them!
For sides, we ordered macaroni and cheese and sautéed mushrooms.
I have a homemade version of the macaroni and cheese on the blog.
You can get the recipe *here*.
It is the most amazing macaroni and cheese ever !You must try it!
Even though we were absolutely stuffed, we ordered dessert.
We got the Grand Marnier soufflé.
One word – amazing!
We had to roll ourselves out of the restaurant!!
Before we headed home, we stopped at Another Broken Egg in Baytowne for breakfast.
It was a beautiful day, and we were lucky enough to get a table outside.
We have an Another Broken Egg in Birmingham, but it is always so crowded on the weekends.
I went with the sausage and gravy biscuits. It came with potatoes.
I can’t get enough of those potatoes!
Chicken Legs got the waffle, eggs and bacon. He loved every bite.
We hit a lot of our favorite spots in the short time we were in town.
We still have so many we need to go back to.
Vintij
Fat Clemenza’s
Elephant Walk
Sandcastle’s at Hilton
Buster’s
What are your favorite spots in Destin?
