Atlanta, GA {Painted Pin, High Museum, Hal’s, Empire State South}

We made a quick trip over to Atlanta a couple of weeks ago. We checked out a cool new place in Buckhead, saw the Dream Cars Exhibit at The High Museum, had a magical dinner, and finished the trip off with a delicious brunch!

We met my cousin and his son at The Painted Pin for lunch. The Painted Pin opened recently in Buckhead. It is SO cool! It is the nicest bowling alley I’ve ever been to.
We bowled two games. I ended up with the high score of the day! Woo Hoo!
We ordered a pizza, boiled peanuts and popcorn/corn nuts mix. It was all good. The pizza was really, really good. This would be a fun place to go for dinner and drinks.

The High Museum of Art has a really cool exhibit of old concept cars, Dream Cars
The cars were amazing! They were in perfect condition. I wish they offered test rides. 😉
The exhibit runs through September 7, 2014. Check it out if you are in town.
We checked in the hotel and got ready for dinner.

Dinner was at Hal’s on Old Ivy. We had the hotel take us so we didn’t have to worry about drinking and driving. Hal’s is a terrific steak house with a great atmosphere.
They have live music in the bar – a guy is usually playing the piano and people are singing along. It can get loud inside.
I got the Blackened Filet Medallions with onion straws. Chicken Legs got the Veal Marsala with a side of fettuccine alfredo. I could have made a meal out of the pasta!
The highlight of the meal was the table side magic show we got after dinner. Howie the Great stopped at our table and did AMAZING magic tricks for us. We were both amazed! LOVED it!
Empire State South

We met my brother for brunch at Empire State South. I wanted to eat at Holeman and Finch, but they were closed for a private party. My luck. I am dying to try their burger!
Empire State South was a real treat. We all got the English Muffin – country ham, spinach, candied bacon, egg, pepper jelly, rice grits. SO delicious. This was the first time we had rice grits. They were great. Need to make them at home.
We are planning a trip back to Atlanta this fall.
We are going to check out Top Golf and (hopefully) eat the burger from Holeman and Finch.

What are your favorite places to eat in Atlanta?
We need a new place for dinner!

  1. My favorite places in Atlanta are The Vortex for dinner (gotta love the Fat Elvis burger, and the Dixie Fries are to die for!) and The Flying Biscuit for breakfast/brunch (I've never managed to eat anything there except the Bicuits, Egg and Gravy plate because it was the first thing I ever ordered, and it was magical).

  2. The Painted Pin looks so cool! I've never seen a bowling alley that looks like a place you'd want to hang out. Like, that doesn't SMELL BAD. I want to go to there.
