Artisan Grilled Chicken

Artisan Grilled Chicken Recipe - chicken marinated in garlic, onion, thyme, sugar, salt, honey and lemon juice - SO flavorful! LOVED the hint of sweetness from the honey. You may want to double the recipe for leftovers.

A few months ago I got a DM on Twitter from McDonald's. They wanted to send me a surprise. OK! They sent me a cute box full of spices and a recipe for an at home version of their new Artisan Grilled Chicken. I only eat fast food when I travel. I had eaten the Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich on one of my trips, and it was pretty good. It was really good for being on-the-go in the airport. I was excited to give the at home version a try.

The chicken was really good! It was easy to make and tasted fantastic. It has tons of great flavor. I especially loved the hint of sweetness from the honey. We made the whole recipe and ate the leftovers the next day. Even better! This was great on its own, but would also be great on top of a salad, chopped up in chicken salad or even on top of a flatbread. This was better than the fast food version. They may use the same ingredients, but this version was much more flavorful than what I had in the airport! I would definitely make this again!

Whisk together water, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, sugar, salt, honey and lemon juice. Pour over chicken and refrigerate 2 to 4 hours.

Remove chicken from marinade and grill for approximately 15 minutes.

  1. Hmmm. I tried the Artisan Chicken at McDonalds. I enjoyed the bun. The lettuce and tomato were fresh. The chicken was rubbery and tasteless. They are not following their own recipe. Should be such a simple thing to accomplish. Very disappointed. $7 for a small combo. Will not happen again.

  2. Hi Stephanie,
I made this last night and let me tell you..........fantastic. I didn't have fresh lemons so I used 2 tbsp bottled juice and grilled half the chicken breasts and the rest I cooked in a skillet. Then I did something so delicious!!!!! I had quit a bit of the marinade left over, so I put it in the pan and sprinkled a bit of flour on top and let it come to a boil, and fantastic gravy. I served it over mashed potatoes with the skillet cooked chicken OMG.......you must try. Thanks for a great recipe.
