Husk - Nashville, TN

Husk is my new favorite place to eat in Nashville. It is located in an old house in Rutledge Hill - a few blocks from the heart of downtown. It is owned by James Beard Award winning chef, Sean Brock.

This is the second location of Husk Restaurant. The original is located in Charleston, SC (on our list of places to go). The original location is listed as one of the best restaurants in the country on several lists. When I saw there was a location in Nashville, I knew we had to go!

Italian Steak Marinade

Italian Steak Marinade and how to cook steakhouse quality steaks at home in the cast iron skillet! They taste better than the restaurant. We never eat steak out!

We love to cook steaks at home. We are always looking for new marinades. We usually just season them with Dale's Steak Seasoning. It is simple and we love the flavor. Last week, we changed up the marinade a bit and added some Italian dressing and Worcestershire sauce to the Dale's. It was AWESOME! The flavor was great!

It's been pretty cold outside at night, so we cooked these steaks in a cast iron skillet. They were honestly better (and quicker) than grilling. The steaks take about 20 minutes to cook to medium-rare. We gobbled these up. I can not wait to make these again!

Garlic Butter Stromboli

Garlic Butter Stromboli - pizza dough slathered with garlic butter and stuffed with pepperoni, ham and mozzarella. Serve with warm pizza sauce.

This recipe was inspired by a reader's recipe. Kerri from Iowa sent me a recipe for her Garlic Butter Stromboli recipe a while back. I loved the idea of a Stromboli with garlic butter slathered all over it! I love pizza and I love garlic butter. So, I knew this would be amazing!

Kerri's recipe used a loaf of frozen bread dough. I had a ball of pizza dough from the grocery store, so I just used that instead. It worked great. You can stuff the Stromboli with any of your favorite pizza toppings. We used ham and pepperoni. My favorite part of the whole recipe was the flavor from the garlic butter! We served this with some warm pizza sauce on top. YUM!!! We will definitely be making this again for pizza night.

Lemon Rosemary Green Beans

Lemon Rosemary Green Beans

These Lemon Rosemary Green Beans are a quick and delicious weeknight side dish. They only take a about 10 minutes to prepare and taste great. The beans go great with chicken, steak, or pork. Really just about anything!

If you want to save a few minutes on the preparation of this dish, clean and trim the edges of the green beans the night before. I just cleaned and trimmed the beans while the water was coming to a boil.

These Lemon Rosemary Green Beans use a little bit of fresh chopped rosemary. I always have rosemary growing on our patio. I love the way it smells and it is great for cooking. If you don't have any fresh rosemary around, you can use dried. The green beans will taste fine.

Slow Cooker Macaroni & Cheese with Ham

Slow Cooker Macaroni & Cheese with Ham - great flavor and ready in 90 minutes. Can serve without ham as side dish.

I had some frozen ham in the freezer that I wanted to use up. I've made a slow cooker mac and cheese in the past and thought it would be a great main dish with the ham. This recipe is awesome! My favorite thing about this recipe is that the noodles cook in the slow cooker. You don’t have to boil the noodles ahead of time! AWESOME!

This mac and cheese isn't something that you can let cook all day while you are at work. It only takes about 2 1/2 hours to cook. I loved the convenience of just dumping everything in the crock-pot a few hours before dinner. We both really loved the mac and cheese. It had a wonderful flavor. Feel free to mix up the cheeses – the combinations are endless!

Adele's - Nashville, TN {Milk Punch Cocktail Recipe}

We took a weekend trip to Nashville earlier this month. We wanted to go back to a couple of places that we ate on the Bon Appetite Grub Crawl last Fall.

The first place on our list was Adele's in The Gulch.
Everything we sampled on the Grub Crawl was absolutely delicious.
We couldn't wait to eat a full dinner!

Dinner was fabulous! I even found the recipes for a couple of the things we ate/drank!

Sautéed Brussels Sprouts with Bacon

Sautéed Brussels Sprouts with Bacon - just like our favorite restaurant! Ready in about 10 minutes! Great weeknight side dish.

Chicken Legs recently discovered his love for brussels sprouts. He ate them at Gianmarco's one night and fell in love with them. He has been asking me to make them for him at home. I've never made brussels sprouts at home, but I was willing to give it a whirl.

I tried to make them similar to what Chicken Legs ate at Gianmarco's. I cooked some bacon and then added the brussels sprouts until they were nice and brown. I added a little drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Chicken Legs gave these two thumbs up! He has already requested them again this weekend!!

Mediterranean Chicken Flatbread

Mediterranean Chicken Flatbread

Sargento is excited to host a “Chopped at Home” contest. Do you watch Chopped on Food Network? We love it! I am always amazed at what the chefs create with some crazy ingredient combinations.

Sargento challenged me to make a fun dish with Chicken, Greek Yogurt, Red Bell Pepper and Sargento® Chef Blends® Shredded 6 Cheese Italian. Chicken Legs and I brainstormed, and he came up with this yummy Mediterranean Chicken Flatbread.

We mixed the Greek yogurt into the pizza sauce. It made the sauce really good and creamy. I would definitely use it again! We topped the flatbread with the Sargento® Chef Blends® Shredded 6 Cheese Italian, chicken, red peppers, black olives and pepperoncini peppers. It was SO good! I loved the 6 Cheese Italian blend. It had mozzarella, smoked provolone, romano, fontina, asiago and parmesan cheese. All of my favorites in one!
