What does CRACK mean?

If a recipe has “crack” in the title it means that the recipe has cheddar, bacon, and ranch in the ingredients. It all started with my Crack Dip way back in 2007. I made the dip for a Titans football game. Everyone went crazy over it. We couldn’t stop eating it and said it was like crack. The name stuck.

According to the dictionary, the definition of crack is “of superior excellence or ability”. We think the flavor combination of cheddar, bacon, and ranch fits this definition! This recipe is most definitely of superior excellence!

How to Make Loaded Tater Tots

This recipe is super easy to make with only a few simple ingredients. Preheat the oven and line a baking sheet with foil, and set a baking rack inside. Set aside. Cut bacon strips into thirds. Wrap bacon around each tater tot and place seam side down in a single layer on the wire rack. Bake until the tater tots and bacon are crispy.

Remove the tater tots from the rack and to a sheet pan. Top the tots with shredded cheddar cheese. Place the pan under the broiler and broil until the cheese melts. Sprinkle with chopped green onions/scallions and drizzle it with ranch dressing.

What to Serve with Loaded Totchos

These tater tots are a staple at our house. They fly off the plate at all of our parties.

  • Top the totchos with your favorite toppings: sour cream, lettuce, diced tomatoes, salsa, and guacamole.
  • Serve them with spicy jalapeño poppers for an extra kick, or perhaps some classic buffalo wings for a bold flavor combination.

The tots are equally delicious as a main dish or side dish.

  • Pairing them with some fresh, crisp coleslaw is a fantastic choice. The cool and crunchy coleslaw provides a refreshing contrast to the richness of the tater tots.
  • Alternatively, a simple side salad with a zesty vinaigrette can add a refreshing touch.
  • Serve them with some juicy grilled burgers or hot dogs for a heartier option. The contrast between the smoky, savory tots and the meaty goodness of a burger is a match made in heaven.
