To make the cake, mix together a box of cake mix, pie filling, eggs, and milk. Pour into a cake pan and bake. Let the cake cool completely. While the cake is cooling, make the frosting. Combine sugar, butter, milk, and white chocolate in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat and pour over the cooled cake. Let the icing cool and set up before serving.
You can make this cake a day or two in advance and store it covered in the refrigerator. I made this cake for a cookout and it was a huge hit! Everyone asked for the recipe. This cake is delicious! Personally I don’t like chunks of strawberry in the cake so I start by putting the pie filling in the bowl and run the mixer for a minute to chop up the strawberries into small pieces.
Can u freeze this cake?
yes
Could this be made as cupcakes?
My guess is that it would be fine, but I haven’t tested this recipe as cupcakes, so I can not say for sure.
in process of making right now my cake is cooled all the way and making the frosting now!!! can’t wait to try it! i also used plain white cake mix as it turned red by itself adding the strawberries to it! and i’m using saleted butter! like the taste better then unsalted
What size cake mix the old 18.25 or the new 15.25? And did you use salted or unsalted butter?
Thanks
Katherine
Whatever size they are currently selling is what I use. Salted or unsalted butter – either is fine.
Can u make in bunt pan.bake for how long.thanks
I’d like to know how long it takes in a bundt pan as well please.
No idea. You will just have to test the baking times.
I melted some dark & milk chocolate for the frosting. Tasted like chocolate covered strawberries. Very ey to make … will make again… again. You get the picture!
*easy
Wow! This sounds super easy and delicious! Thank you =^,^=
This looks AMAZING! I'll probably make it the night before for a work function. Will I need to refrigerate it in the meantime, or will that make the frosting hard?
You can refrigerate it, but it isn't necessary.
Made this cake for a birthday and it was delicious!
Thanks again for another great recipe 😊
