How to Make Slow Cooker Pork Chili

As I said, this chili is super easy to make. Simply combine pulled pork, diced tomatoes, chili beans, diced tomatoes and green chiles, chili seasoning, tomato sauce, tomato juice, and onion in the crockpot. Season with salt and black pepper. Cover and cook on LOW heat all day.

Helpful Tips & Frequently Asked Questions

  • For the pulled pork, I used a package of pulled pork from Costco. It is with the other refrigerated pre-packaged meats and ravioli. I have also used a pack of pre-made Uncured Pulled Pork at Walmart. Both are SUPER delicious and give the chili a really nice smoky flavor.
  • Here is our recipe for Instant Pot Pulled Pork made with a pork butt: https://www.plainchicken.com/instant-pot-pulled-pork/
    • Can substitute shredded pork tenderloins.
    • This is a great recipe to use up any leftover pork you may have in the freezer.

  • I use chili beans in this recipe. Feel free to substitute your favorite beans. Kidney beans, pinto beans, red beans, white beans, or black beans are all great options.
  • Can add green peppers and a medium onion to the chili.
  • Is Pulled Pork Chili Spicy? We did not think the chili was spicy. If you are worried about the heat level, use mild chili beans and mild Rotel tomatoes.
    • If you want a spicier chili, use HOT Rotel and add some hot sauce.
  • Can Pulled Pork Chili be frozen? Yes! You can freeze leftovers for a quick meal later. Let the chili cool completely. Transfer the chili to plastic containers or freezer bags and freeze. To reheat, partially thaw and reheat in the microwave, on the stovetop, or in the slow cooker.
  • Can I make Pulled Pork Chili on the stove top? Yes! Combine all the ingredients in a large stockpot or Dutch oven. Bring to a boil and simmer over medium heat until it starts to thicken.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

  1. I have to ask……. Is that baked cornbread that looks like corn on the cob??????
If so, I NEED that pan. Lol

  2. Can this be cooked on high for 3 hours in a crock pot Or can it just be cooked on stove top for a few hours since everything is pre-cooked?

    1. Mine didn't. I just made this again last night and it was delicious. The beans were just fine. You can always add them in right before serving if you are really worried about it though. Either way is fine. Enjoy!

  3. This looks so good, but I do not have a walmart near me, it's in the next county over. So should I just substitute like I guess another brand, there is like another brand but kind of expensive, or maybe I should just cook a pork butt bbq, but that seems like alot of work to put into a chili. I have no idea. I may not be able to make but it does look good.

    1. you can get some pulled pork from your local BBQ joint. A lot of grocery stores sell pulled pork in their deli/prepared food area. You can also look at the grocery store in the refrigerated section for prepackaged prepared pulled pork – it is usually near the bacon at my store.
