Easy Ham & Cheese Biscuit Bites

I can not get enough of these Ham Puffs. They are CRAZY good!!! There are only 5 simple ingredients in these puffs, but they make a delicious treat. I ate WAY too many of these puffs. I just kept popping them in my mouth. They are surprisingly good and way too easy to eat. They reminded me of little ham biscuit bites.

How to Make Ham Puffs

There are only 5 ingredients in these puffs and they only take a few minutes to make. Mix together diced ham, flour, butter, Worcestershire sauce, and cheese. Form into balls and bake.

  • I like to make small half-inch balls. They are the perfect bite-size, in my opinion. If you want bigger puffs, make them bigger. It is up to you! Just check the cooking time. Bigger puffs might take a minute or two longer to bake.
  • I use King Arthur All-Purpose Flour.
  • One cup of flour weighs 4.25-ounces. To properly measure flour, give the flour a stir to loosen it up in the container. Use a spoon and lightly spoon the flour into your measuring cup. Use a flat straight edge (like the straight back of a knife) to level off the top of the flour in the measuring cup. Do NOT compact the flour in the measuring cup.
  • Make sure to mix the dough well to get all of the flour incorporated.
  • Can Ham Puffs be frozen? Yes! You can freeze the baked puffs for a quick snack later.

Ham & Cheese Bites for Breakfast or Parties

This recipe makes about three dozen puffs. Perfect for holiday parties, holiday snacking and tailgating. They only take about 5 or 10 minutes to whip together and they are ready to eat in 15 minutes. They taste great hot out of the oven or cooled to room temperature. I am making a batch of these for Christmas snacking. These little ham bites are a good alternative to our usual sausage balls!

    1. I’ve never tried this with spam. My guess is that is would be fine since Spam is just spicy canned ham.

  1. I halved the recipe, since I was making them for lunch for two. I used a tin of Flakes of Ham that I diced and formed the dough into 38 balls, all a bit bigger than half an inch. I baked them for 18 minutes and they were yummy! Next time though, I’m going to add some mustard powder and chopped green onions for a bit more flavour.

  2. These were delicious! My husband couldn’t get enough of them, and has already requested I make them again. Thank you for a great, simple recipe!

    1. King Arthur makes a gf ap flour. You can’t tell the difference. We do Football Saturday with a huge group during football season. I made Stephanie’s KY butter poke cake the first Saturday using King Arthur’s yellow gf cake mix—just baked my 10th one last night. The non-gf folks love it! WDE and Go Dawgs

  3. If I bake and freeze, or mix/freeze and bake the day of my event, what temp and how long should I thaw and cook/reheat?

  4. I made and they were wonderful using self rising flour. I will make this again doubling and freezing for a quick snack and addition to soup meals. Thank you so much

  5. Can these be made ahead of time? Also can you eat them room temp or is it something that needs to be eaten hot?

    1. I’m not sure. I don’t cook with almond flour. If you try it, comment and let everyone know how it turned out!????

  6. So delicious and a nice change from sausage balls! I made 25 out of my batch and total cook time was 23 minutes. Thank you Stephanie!

  7. I made those yesterday evening (Christmas Eve). They were the BombDiggity!!! I didn't have my Worcestershire Sauce so I used a few dashes of Louisiana hot Sauce. I had to improvise and they were delicious. Thank You, Much love, Carla Oh yeah, the BBQ-Smothered Green Beans are in the oven now!

  8. Quick question. Are these really rolled into half inch balls? That seems really tiny. These sound delicious and I can't wait to try them. Thanks!

    1. Yes – they were small. You can make them bigger if you wish. They might just take a little longer to bake.
