Two weeks ago, we flew up to New York City for the weekend. We ate at some amazing places, did some shopping, went to the Top of the Rock. All of that was SO much fun, but the reason for the trip was to go to the Downton Abbey Exhibit. I am a HUGE Downton Abbey fan. My ringtone is the theme song. I almost cried when we visited Highclere Castle this past fall. It was one of my favorite travel experiences! When I heard that this Downton Abbey exhibit was coming to NYC, I booked tickets, a room and a flight!!!
The exhibit is three floors. The first floor is the downstairs, the second floor has the dining room and a bedroom set, and the third floor has lots of the costumes. It took us about an hour to go through the whole thing. It was all fabulous!! A must for a Downton Abbey fan!! It is even enjoyable for any non-Downton Abbey fans. Chicken Legs has never even seen one episode, but he has been around the world to see all the Downton sites with me!!

FIRST FLOOR
Downstairs at Downton
When you walk into the exhibit, you are walking into the downstairs staff quarters.
These are some of Anna’s outfits – Housemaid day working dress on the left and her Ladies Maid working dress on the right.

Next we got to see the kitchen where Mrs. Patmore and Daisy spent most of their time.

We also got to see Mr. Carson’s office.

The second floor starts with costumes showing what the cast would wear to dinner.

Now that we are dressed for dinner, it’s time to move into the dining room!

The first season was the only season that they shot in the actual bedrooms in Highclere Castle.
It was too hard to carry the equipment up the stairs of the castle, so starting with season 2 they shot all the bedroom scenes on a set.

The Dowager Countess might be my favorite Downton Abbey character.
She is so witty!
One of my favorite quotes is “What is a weekend?”.
After watching the video on The Dowager Countess, you walk into a large room with lots of memorabilia.

We had the clothing exhibit here in Nashville last summer. Although I loved it, the accompanying tea was disappointing! I also visited Highclere Castle a couple years ago—that did not disappoint!
