Pin This RecipeThis Crack Chicken Pierogi Casserole was one of the best things we ate last week. I am serious! This casserole is delicious! Pierogies tossed with alfredo sauce, chicken, bacon, cheddar and ranch. SO GOOD!!
There are only a few simple ingredients in this casserole. The most exotic ingredient is pierogies. Have you ever had pierogies? Pierogies are potato dumplings. Dough filled with potatoes and sometimes cheese. I find the pierogies in the freezer section near the potatoes. The only brand I’ve really seen is Mrs. T’s. I used the classic cheddar pierogies in this casserole since cheddar is a component of “crack” (cheddar, bacon and ranch).
To make the casserole simply toss together the pierogies, Alfredo sauce, chicken, bacon, Ranch dressing mix, and cheddar cheese. Spread the mixture into a baking dish and bake. You can assemble this casserole ahead of time and refrigerate or even freeze for later. To bake after freezing, thaw completely and bake as directed below.
We gave this Crack Chicken Pierogi Casserole two big thumbs up. We ate this for lunch and leftovers for dinner. Serve this with some green beans and rolls and you have a super quick weeknight meal! Here are a few of our favorite side dishes from the blog that go great with this chicken casserole:

I am going to try this in my crockpot.. wish me luck
Should be just fine – Let us know how it turns out!
I made my own Alfredo sauce, and this was delicious. I didn’t put quite enough Ranch seasoning in and I think some scallions would be great in this. Will make again.
This recipe was delicious! I did tweek alittle to fit my families taste but all around the original recipe is absolutely a regular hit at my house from now on!
I used frozen a 32oz bag of 4 cheese melody mini pierogis
I boiled the frozen pierogis for 3 mins, drained them, & paned fried on both sides in butter
(for about 5mins total) to get alittle crisp to them.
I pan seared 4 seasoned thin sliced chicken breast & crisped up 1/2 a pack of turkey bacon
& diced them up.
I mixed 2 jars of garlic roasted Alfredo sauce with about a 1/2c of half & half, about 2c of fiesta mixed cheese, 1 can of corn, 1 whole packet of ranch seasoning, granulated garlic, black pepper & onion powder (to taste) then added the meat & pierogis to the pot & mixed it all up.
I then melted about 1c of cheese on top.
I made some ranch sour cream to dip on the side.
(which was just some plain greek yogurt & ranch dressing mixed together)
IT WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!!
Next time I make this I’ll make garlic bread & maybe a side salad or green beans to go with it.
Thanks so much for the recipe idea!
Does anyone serve it with sour cream?
I am trying it tonight with a side of sour cream
Very often, recipes I find on Pinterest don’t turn out as well as the their pictures but this was an exception. Easy to make and very tasty.
Can you thaw the pieorgies in the microwave
Sure!
Fun and tasty casserole. I used the store brand Pierogies, which are smaller than Mrs. T’s. I also used Alfredo with sundried tomatoes. I think next time I make it, I’ll add sundried tomatoes as well.
sounds delicious!
Great dish! Easy and tasty!! My husband loved it as is, I think I might substitute a couple cans cream of mushroom for one of the alfredo jars next time. I also added a bag of frozen broccoli. Will have this again soon
Do you thaw or cook the the pieorgies first?
no
the recipe says pieorgies thawed but here in the comments you say no? should I thaw them or not? I really want to make this for dinner tonight lol
I thawed them but you don’t have to.
okay thanks im making it now! My husband & I cant wait to try this 🥰
Love this dish! But thought the 2-3 tablespoons of ranch made it too salty.
You can always use our Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix instead of store bought
This recipe is awesome!! I have made twice already and plan on making tonight. This is my 13 year old’s favorite dish. He’s not big on leftovers but this dish he will eat till it’s gone!
This recipe is absolutely amazing and was a big hit in our house.
I didn’t have Ranch dressing mix so I used regular ranch.
If I don’t have ranch seasoning could I substitute ranch dressing? I think the pierogies I have are minis, but i’m sure that’s ok.
I halfed the recipe because there is only three of us but used the whole amount of bacon. It was so delicious. I will definitely make this again.
You can never have too much bacon! So glad you enjoyed it.
This is my family's new favorite dish….its AMAZING!!
Would this work with the pierogies frozen? Cause I totally overlooked thawed and just put them in the oven frozen. Oops.
Sure! Maybe just add about 5 minutes to the cooking time
Wondering how much longer you cooked with frozen
I would like to try this but am not a fan of alfredo sauce. Anyone have a suggestion for a substitution?
Try 2 cans of cream of chicken soup and maybe 1 can of cream of mushrooms soup mixed together
