I have never really been a big grits fan, but throw some sausage and cheese in them and I can't stop eating them! The best part is that they only take a few minutes to make in your trusty Instant Pot.

People often ask me what I use when a recipe calls for sausage. I tell them my choice is always Jimmy Dean Premium Pork Sausage. I love their unique blend of signature seasonings. It really adds great flavor to the recipes.

For this Instant Pot Cheesy Sausage Grits recipe, I used the Original Jimmy Dean Premium Pork Sausage.

These Instant Pot Cheesy Sausage Grits are super easy to make.

Start with the Instant Pot on Sauté mode.
Cook the fresh Jimmy Dean Premium Pork Sausage until it is no longer pink.
Make sure to break up the sausage while it is cooking.

Next, add the grits and the liquid and cover the Instant Pot.

One note about the grits. You need to use Stone Ground Grits.
NOT quick cook or instant. STONE GROUND GRITS.
They should be near the other types of grits at the grocery store.
Just DON'T USE INSTANT OR QUICK COOK GRITS!!!
Got it? Good!

Once the grits are cooked, stir in the cheese and a little milk.
Done!

  6. Can eggs be added in ? If so would they need to be cooked/scrambled in a separate pan and added in to the Instant Pot after the grits are cooked ?

    1. You could definitely do them separately and stir into the grits.

    1. The only thing I can think of is the milk might be burning in your IP. You can try adding all the milk after the grits have cooked. I haven't had this problem, so this is my best guess.
