Last year, we bought an annual pass to Disney World. We have been taking lots of trips to Disney to make sure we got our money’s worth!! Since we have been going more often than usual, we’ve had time to try new restaurants and experiences. Today  I am going to share with you four new places that we tried in Disney Springs. If you haven’t checked out the newly updated Disney Springs (formerly Downton Disney) area, you are really missing out. The restaurants and shopping are GREAT!! There are still a lot of places on our list to try, but we got a good start with these four places. We LOVED three of the places and one just missed the mark.

Morimoto Asia
Morimoto Asia was our favorite place in Disney Springs.

The restaurant was BEAUTIFUL and the food was AMAZING!

This is obviously an Asian restaurant. You place your order and the food comes out as it gets ready.
The first thing to arrive were the Egg Rolls.

I ordered the half rack of the Morimoto Spare Ribs.
These were THE BEST ribs I’ve ever eaten!
They are basted in a hoisin sweet chili glaze.
I wanted to lick the plate!

I also ordered some Chicken Bao Buns.
They weren’t very good. I wouldn’t get them again.
The bao buns in Epcot’s China pavilion are 1000 times better.

Chicken Legs went all out with some sushi.
He loved every single bite.

We finished the meal with some Churro Fondue.
It was served with a tube of homemade Nutella and vanilla cream.
The churros were good, but not as good as what you get in the parks.
Overall, we LOVED Morimoto Asia and would definitely eat here again!!
Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’
We stopped in at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ for lunch.
We arrived when they opened at 11:00 and seating wasn’t a problem.

We started with a Bunch of Puppies.

Hushpuppies served with pimento cheese and red pepper jelly.
These were GOOD!!!

Chicken Legs ordered the famous Fried Chicken & Doughnuts.

The Fried Chicken & Doughnuts is served with mashed potatoes.
SO creamy and delicious!!

I went with the Fried Chicken Sandwich.
Buttermilk-brined for 24 hours and double-battered, dressed with hot sauce, aioli, iceberg lettuce, tomato and bread and butter pickles. I left off the pickles because I’m not a pickle person.
The sandwich was served with  served with house-made barbecue chips drizzled with icebox dressing.
SO good!!!
We LOVED Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’.
We are heading back down to Florida in a few weeks.
I am going to see if I can talk Chicken Legs into going to Disney ONE more time before our annual pass expires.
I REALLY want to eat a few more things here!
The Chicken Biscuits and Deviled Eggs are calling my name!

STK Orlando
I’ve been wanting to try STK for a while.
I was excited to see them open a location at Disney Springs.
The atmosphere at STK is so much fun. They have live DJ spinning the hits while you eat.
The meal starts with some crazy delicious bread!!
Pull-apart bread topped with bleu cheese butter & chive oil.
I don’t even like bleu cheese and I devoured this bread! YUM!

Chicken Legs got the wedge.

I ordered the double smoked bacon.
SO good!!

Chicken Legs ordered the filet.
It was cooked perfectly.

He also got a side of the mushrooms.

I got the Lil’ BRGs off the appetizer menu.
Wagyu beef, special sauce on sesame seed buns.
They were good.
One word of warning – it has caramelized onions under the cheese.
It also had truffle oil. The onions and truffle oil aren’t mentioned on the menu.
I dislike both, so I would have asked for them to be left off the burgers.

The star of my meal was the Mac & Cheese!

O-M-G! I could have just eaten this as my meal!
We skipped dessert because we just didn’t have the room for it.
Overall, we really liked STK and would definitely return.

Frontera Cocina
We noticed Fonterea Cocina on a previous trip. It smelled SO good! I made sure to get a reservation on our last trip.

We started with some fancy margaritas.

Next up was an order of chips and salsa.
It comes with a Smoky chipotle & herby salsa verde.
It was good. Just super SMALL!
For $10 I expected a lot more. Both salsas were less than ¼ cup.

We also tried the Queso Fundido.
Queso Chihuahua melted with roasted poblanos and caramelized onions, warm corn tortillas .
It was good.

Chicken Legs got the Creekstone Ribeye.
Ancho chile rubbed Creekstone ribeye steak, crispy onion strings, Cotija Mashed potatoes, caramelized plantains with crema and Cotija cheese, tomatillo salsa, warm corn tortillas.

I got the Carne Asada for tacos.
Carne Asada for making Soft Tacos
Grilled steak, poblano rajas, black beans refritos with queso fresco, salsa verde, guacamole, served with corn tortillas.
Both of our entrees came out COLD.
BUMMER!!!
Overall, we thought Frontera Cocina was extremely overpriced and not worth the money.
The food was average at best, and we were really disappointed it came out cold.
Have you tried Frontera Cocina? Did you like it?
Maybe we just ordered the wrong things.
What are your favorite places to eat in Disney Springs?
What should we add to our list??
The Polite Pig is on my list.
What else should I add??

  1. I highly recommend the Drinking Chocolate at the Ganachery. They serve it hot in the winter and cold in the summer. Make sure to add some Bailey's for an extra treat! Mmmm…
