Lemon-Basil Buttermilk Grilled Chicken – SO tender, juicy and packed full of amazing flavor!!! Buttermilk, lemon, basil, salt, onion, pepper, cayenne and chicken. We made this twice in one week! We just can’t get enough of it! Seriously some of the best grilled chicken we’ve ever made!
When Chris over at Nibble Me This declared his buttermilk grilled chicken marinade the best grilled chicken marinade he had ever made or tasted, I knew I better go buy some buttermilk! I decided on a lemon basil marinade since I am growing basil and Chicken Legs loves lemon. It turned out really great. The chicken was very tender and juicy and tasted amazing. Now I just need to get Chicken Legs to plant some cilantro, so I can give Chris’ marinade a whirl.

i was wondering to about the oil
The directions say mix everything but oil . The ingredients does not list oil . Do you need oil ?
Always me favorite! Grilled chicken can be my meal for centuries. I can't get enough of it.

I think the whole key behind this on is the buttermilk. We could probably put tacks and broken glass in it and it would still taste good. Okay, I might be exaggerating but buttermilk does do something great for grilled chicken.
Gotta Try It!
Katherine – I definitely think you could pan fry or bake this chicken. Sometimes I do a little of both – brown the chicken and then throw it in the oven for about 10 minutes to finish cooking.
I don't have a grill, sadly. Think I can use this but bake it or pan fry instead?
I would have never thought to marinate with buttermilk, awesome idea and it looks so good.
Gosh those look perfectly delicious!
