Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta

I needed a quick and easy dinner last week and decided on this bacon cheeseburger pasta.  I had several recipes like this bookmarked and decided it was time to give it a try.  I received samples of Lay’s new Dip Creations from the Tastemaker program at Foodbuzz.  I decided to use the Garden Onion seasoning mix in this dish, but I think the Country Ranch seasoning mix would work just as well.
This was really good.  It was wonderfully cheesy and full of flavor!  The Garden Onion seasoning mix worked great.  This dish was hard to stop eating.  The more we ate, the more we liked it.    If you need a really quick weeknight dinner, this will fit the bill.

1 lb ground beef
1 packet Lay’s Dip Creations Garden Onion seasoing mix
1 can diced tomatoes, undrained
2 cups beef broth
1 cup elbow macaroni

2 Tbsp flour
2 Tbsp butter
1 cup milk
4 oz Velveeta cheese, cubed (any cheese you like)
2 tsp Lawhorn Seasoing Blend (or some seasoning salt and pepper)

½ lb bacon, cooked and chopped
cheddar cheese, optional

In a large skillet, brown the hamburger meat and drain off the fat.  Stir in the Garden Onion seasoning mix, diced tomatoes and beef broth.  Bring to a boil.  Stir in macaroni. Reduce heat and cover.  Simmer over medium-low heat for 13-15 mintues.

In the meantime, make the cheese sauce.  In a saucepan, melt 2 Tbsp butter.  Whisk in 2 Tbsp flour and cook for 3-5 minutes, until light brown.  Slowly whisk in the milk and bring to a boil.  Remove from heat and add the Velveeta cheese and seasonings.

Pour the cheese sauce over the meat and stir to combine.  Top with bacon and cheddar cheese.

  1. Would it be okay without the packet of Lay's Dip Creations Garden Onion seasoing mix? Or is there anything I could subsitute? I live in Canada and I haven't seen this anywhere
