How to Make Spiced Tea Mix
This mix is SUPER easy to make. Simply whisk together lemonade mix, instant tea, Tang, sugar, and pumpkin spice. Store in an air-tight container and enjoy during the holiday season.
- I used Country Time Lemonade mix.
- For the instant tea, I used Lipton unsweetened instant tea.
- I found the Tang orange drink mix at Walmart.
- If you want a finer mix, pulse the mixture in the food processor.
- Don’t have pumpkin pie spice on hand? No problem! You can make it with only four spices.
- Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice
- 4 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice
How to Package Spiced Tea Mix for Gift Giving
- I packaged my tea mix in Kerr Wide Mouth 8-oz Mason Jars (http://amzn.to/2iwuauR).
- For the labels, I used a sheet of Avery Full-Sheet Labels (http://amzn.to/2iwZutj).
- I found the label design online at World Label. You can find them here–> Christmas Label Template. Scroll to the bottom of the post for the download.
- This recipe makes six jars of Christmas Spiced Tea Mix. There are also exactly six labels on the template.
- To finish off the jars, I hot glued a ribbon around the edge. Perfect!

Mom made something like this when we were kids… in the 60’s. For whatever reason, it was called “Russian Tea…” We used Tang Orange Juice, Wyler’s Lemonade (which I can’t find) Instant Tea, Cloves, Sugar and Cinnamon… now, I omit the sugar and use Country time Lemonade that is already sweetened… It’s a great mix to gift someone at this time of year in a cute mug with a bow…
I used to make it back in the 80s. I couldn’t remember what it was called. Russian Tea – yes. Thanks.
I love this. It sounds delicious!
I know your recipe is for the 6 little mason jars, but will those measurements make a pitcher to serve with dinner?
I’ve had to ‘adjust’ the Russian Tea recipe over the years as I cannot find unsweet instant tea either. I use the sweetened tea, lemonade Kool aid, a bit less sugar and I’ve found that this works just fine. Perhaps the extra sweetness in the tea and the lack of sweetness in the lemonade mix offset each other!
I buy the Unsweetened Instant Tea at Walmart.
How many 8oz jar does this recipe yield?
This makes about 6 cups of mix.
Is pumpkin pie spice (McCormicks) the same thing?
yes
I can't seem to find instant unsweetened tea mix, Lipton or not. Would the regular ice tea mix be to sweet? I would love to make this for Christmas gifts.
I found it at Walmart. I think think regular ice tea mix would be fine.
Thanks, I will try the regular mix. I looked in Walmart and many others……. maybe it's not in Canada.
I make a Russian Tea in Winter that is delicious,my friend from over 35 years give it to me and I make it every winter.Give as gifts and this year my granddaughter loves it. I might have to try yours too!
Hi,
I would LOVE to use the Chai Tea Mix label you used above! Do you have a link of the label used? I'd love to make some gifts this holiday season! Thanks!
I used a template from the avery.com website – it is called "Mistletoe Wreath Round Labels"
This has been one of my favorite fall/winter treats for many years…I almost love smelling it more than consuming it (ALMOST!) 🙂
I use sugar free tang mix, splenda, instant tea and ground cinnamon. Each cup is about 25 calories!
Love it!!! I just pulled out my grandmother's recipe a few days ago and the exactly it minus the pumpkin spice. I'm going to have to add that the next time I make it. Oh yum!!!!
Steph, this is just what I was looking for! Thanks!!
My Grandmother used to make this for us, thanks for the recipe!
Love this recipe! I might buy the ingredients today and make for some last minute gifts!
p.s., I'm out until Jan. 3rd
Happy holidays, I'll miss U!
Great for a cold and yucky day!
Thanks for the recipe! How many does this make if using those types of jars?
