I’ve seen this recipe floating around Pinterest forever. It claims to be a copycat to Chick-fil-a nuggets. I finally decided to test it out. While this does not taste just like Chick-fil-a, it is a really good chicken nugget. I read that Chick-fil-a marinates their chicken in pickle juice before battering it. I may give that a try next time, even though I despise pickle juice!
I let the chicken soak in the egg and milk mixture all day and battered them when I got home from work. I fried the nuggets in batches and dinner was ready in no time. We dipped the nuggets in honey mustard and BBQ sauce. We both really enjoyed this and would make them again.

In a gallon size ziplock bag combine flour, powdered sugar, salt and pepper. Seal and shake to combine. Remove chicken from milk mixture and place in ziplock bag. Shake to coat.
Place 2 inches of oil in a large pot or Dutch oven Heat until the oil reaches 375 degrees. Fry chicken in batches, about 1-2 minutes per side. Remove chicken and drain. Repeat until all chicken in cooked. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
I must not be doing something right because I cooked in the right amount of minutes and they came out too dark yet the insides weren't even cooked. >.<;;; Yeah, frying is definitely not in my department. lol. I think I'll stick to the baking even though this recipe looks so delicious. With the baking, I feel that I have some bit of control there. @_@
well they don't marinate them in anything…also workedthere, no pickle juice, no buttermilk….just a secret seasoned flour….
I was told they marinate them in buttermilk as a friend's child needed to know due to a milk allergy and they told her this at our local restaurant.
Once upon a time I worked at Chick-fil-A as a batterer. Yep, all day long I battered chicken and made a glorious mess lol. But I can tell you that they do not marinate the chicken in pickle juice or anything else. Comes straight out of the fridge after defrosting. The flour mix for the batter isn't even known to employees. It comes in packages like a five pound flour bag already seasoned.
powdered sugar, that's different
Carol – thank you for posting that!
The recipe for copycat Chik-fil-A Sauce is one cup of Ken's Honey Mustard Dressing plus 2 teaspoons of smoky bbq sauce.
I'm boycotting anything Chik-fil-la but since theses aren't really Chik's I'll give them a try. They look real good. I'll even try the pickle juice thing.
