This dish is SO delicious.  I’ve had this recipe bookmarked for years, but I never got around to making it.  I am kicking myself for not trying this sooner.  It is SOOOOO GOOD!  The best part of this dish is that it is incredibly simple to make.  It requires not marinating or prep. Just sprinkle the seasoning on the chicken, cook and add cream. It takes about 15 minutes total.  You can’t beat that! I like to serve this over angel hair pasta, but it would also be good with mashed potatoes.  Next time we are going to try a combination of half chicken and half andouille sausage. I can’t wait!

  1. I give this recipe 5 stars for flavor! I actually left out the cayenne (I’m a weenie when it comes to spicy things!) and it was still very flavorful. Even my picky husband loved it! My only comment is that it definitely takes a lot more simmering time to get the sauce to thicken, but it’s well worth it! I’ll definitely be making this again.

  2. Made this tonight, and I loved the chicken in this recipe!! The sauce would be even better with the same seasonings added to it. Definitely has potential to be amazing! I will update this review after I make this again with the added seasonings. (:

    1. 100% “as is” delish. I do mix it up sometimes for a littke something different by adding spinach, lemon and parmesan to the already delightful sauce. No measurements. I just let the cooking gods speak to me 🤣 It’s one of the sure fire ways I can get my kids to eat spinach!

  3. Made for dinner and it’s a 10 both my picky eaters loved it, my only problem was my sauce didn’t get thick at all I thought I followed directions but I screwed up somehow, I used heavy whipping cream, then I added some cornstarch when it didn’t get thick! What did I do wrong ? How
Did you do yours and it turn out right?

    1. nothing except that you didn’t let it bubble long enough. try again! some HWC sauce recipes ( like barefoot contessa’s gorgonzola sauce take up to 45 mins to thicken. Keep low boiling!

      1. I’m wondering if some fresh grated parmesan would thicken it up also. I made once before and it was very good. Making for second time tonight. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

  4. I have made this many times and loved it. However, I would really like to make it for a very large group (15 – 20 people). Can this be made ahead and heated in the oven in a baking dish. Or, how would you suggest going about this?

  5. I just made this for dinner and wow! So delicious! Everyone, even the 2 year old, devoured their food and wanted seconds. We had this over angel hair pasta as suggested and it was perfect with the sauce. I didn’t have chicken tenders on hand so I butterflied some large breasts and cut them into tender shaped strips and it worked great. I will definitely be making this again very soon!

  6. My husband lost most of his taste of smell and taste several years ago. He actually tasted–and really enjoyed–this recipe, and went back for seconds, leaving only a taste for our son, who concurred this is a 5-star winner! I can appreciate why you’d make it three times in a week!

  7. My kids love this so much! Just asked them what they wanted for dinner and they said “the chicken we love” and this is it.

  8. I made this for supper last night. My husband really liked it. I sliced up chicken breasts and it turned out well. My husband liked the seasonings. I will make it again

  9. This was sooo easy and even more delicious. I could just eat the sauce and be happy. Next time I make it I wanna try some carmelized onions.

  10. It is very good. I made it for our Anniversary dinner. I only had half cream so I made a small slurry to thicken. At the end I grated some sharp cheddar over it and put the lid on just long enough to melt. Served with a tossed green salad and stuffed mushrooms. Very good recipe, thank you!

  11. So so so good!! I must say I was skeptical because of how “ easy” this recipe was but it didn’t disappoint! Instead of cooking the tenders whole , I cut them into chuck’s for better serving… definitely will be adding this to my regular dinner options!

    1. Absolutely delicious. I plan on serving this to my Son for dinner tonight. I have made this many times and enjoy it even more each time.

  12. Came across this recipe and just had to make it. I follow Weight Watchers and made it before I checked the Point. This is so delish!!!!!! I used Almond Unsweeten Milk and about 1 tablespoon of cornstarch so that I could thicken it. Not as good as using the heavy cream but still delish! I recommend to anyone who is interested in making this ~ DO SO!!!!!!

  13. It was delish! Decided to play with it. Same seasonings & cooking of the chicken. But tried Alfredo sauce plus chopped fresh broccoli & fresh sliced mushrooms & sliced black olives. Took no longer. It was also delicious on pasta. Will do it both ways.

    1. I fix this for my husband and son we like it a lot. I think the next time I’m going to use green and red peppers and garlic bread

    1. My family loves this, especially my husband. Sometime just to make things different, I will use porkchops instead of chicken.

  14. Have madethis several times! It’s part of our regular rotation. The seasonings make this every day chicken taste unique. My hubs isn’t even a fan of chicken but he loves it. We serve it over mashed potatoes.

  15. This recipe is soooo good! We like to add caramelized onions. I think I need to make this again tonight!

  16. Oh man I was skeptical at first but this turned out so dang good! We doubled the recipe and added a little fresh parmesan on top while cooking and a bit when served its absolutely delicious.

  17. Delicious , quick and easy and a great lunch with my husband. I lit a few candles, put on some music and we sat at the “good” dining room table and didn’t eat at the kitchen countertop! Even had carnivore red Zinfandel with it. A treat! If you like garlic it was a bit garlicky and good! If you don’t like it, scale back. There was no heat but I did use exactly what the recipe said. This recipe needs no substitutions. I’d save substituting for when you’re free wheel cooking with what you have on hand. ❤️

      1. Hi everyone! This recipe is on the menu this week! I ended up with a ton of smoked chicken from the weekend. Has anyone made this with leftover cooked chicken? I was thinking just to throw it in towards the end? Thanks!

  18. I came across this recipe today while trying to find something quick, easy, and delicious to make for dinner. Ohhhhwa my gahhhhhhh!! It’s DELICIOUS!! I put it over baby, lightly smashed potatoes. We all had seconds! I’m glad I doubled the recipe and I have leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch!

  19. Made this recipe tonight. Thickened sauce with 2 t. corn starch and served over Cavatappi noodles and Lesueur peas on top. Flavor was great, but will try rice next time.

  20. I just finished making this recipe. HOLY COW…this is by far the best recipe I've gotten off Pinterest. I will be making this often. The seasonings and the sauce are lip-smacking good. The sauce could be used with other meats. Pork chops and shrimp. I added parmesan cheese to the sauce..put it over the top like others suggested. Don't hesitate to make this. The BEST.

  21. This recipe is sooo simple, yet sooo delicious! I have made it several time and it is always a hit with my family. You can adjust the spices to suit your family…we tend to like it a little spicier.

  22. I made this tonight and followed the recipe exactly other than only using 1lb of tenderloins. My sauce would not thicken at all. It was the consistence of water. Any suggestions?

  23. Has anyone tried this using full fat coconut milk and ghee? That would make it Whole30 compliant. Would be delish over smashed sweet potatoes. Just wonder if it would be too rich.

  24. I made this for dinner tonight and it was delicious! The only thing I did that was not listed in the original recipe was add a little bit of corn starch to thicken the sauce and tossed the angel hair in olive oil and fresh garlic. This is a keeper and I will definitely be making this again. Thank you for the recipe!

This is a keeper and I will definitely be making this again. Thank you for the recipe!

  26. OMG, I must be losing my mind! Now I see the butter in the ingredients. Please disregard my previous comment.

  27. Am I the only one who noticed that the instructions call for butter yet there is no butter listed in the ingredients? How much butter is used in this recipe?

  28. Why am I just now learning about this dish?! Looks amazing and I will be getting the necessary goodies to try this out tomorrow!

  29. I made this tonight for dinner and my husband and I loved it. I have three boys and they were not as excited about it as I was. I made it with angel hair pasta. Next time I will mix the pasta into the sauce at the end for full flavor effect. Yum!

  30. When you say chicken tenders I think already cooked chicken…do you just mean chicken breast cut into strips?

    1. No – I use chicken tenderloins – it is next to the raw chicken breasts in the meat section. You can also use raw chicken breasts cut into strips.

    1. Jennifer – I do not provide nutritional information on the site. There are lots of sites on the internet that you can plug in the ingredients and get that information though. CalorieCount is one you can try.

  31. Made this recipe for the second time and it is so very yummy! Everyone in my family had seconds and there were no leftovers! This recipe is a keeper!

  32. Yum thanks! I didn't serve any veggies with it but had planned on sauteed zucchini or corn on the cob.

  33. I make this for my family almost once a week now! I have been for a long time and now I am finally coming to let you know you have one killer family favorite right here! I am sharing on my blog as such!

  34. How do I get the sauce to thicken? I've made this 3 times and can never get the sauce to thicken, and is there a difference in heavy cream and heavy whipping cream?

  35. Now I never really comment much on the internet, but I do alot of cooking so people alike this is a mediocre recipe. Scale it 10 through 10 I give it a 6 at best for taste factor. Not to mention it's a total fat persons delight not to judge giving it's all butter and cream. But today was my cheat day and on a positive note it was very inexpensive to make as well as easy as making frozen chicken nuggets. It definitely served it's purpose for what it was. But to run home and tell friends about not so much. ..I give this a thumbs up but not a double thumbs..but not gonna lie it was damn quick and easy and cheap for a quick carb, calorie and protein load as I used it for..

  36. I served this over mashed cauliflower since my 15 year old wrestler has banned mashed potatoes from his dinner plate and it was absolutely delicious! Thank you for the awesome dinner idea

  37. What kind of chili powder? Is it the one used in chili soup, enchilada, tacos, stuff like that? Thanks

  38. Delicious. I used a roasted chicken from last night. I sliced it, put it in a gallon size plastic bag, added the spices and shook it around. I added mushrooms which I cooked before I added the chicken. Ancho Chile sauce and no cayenne were what I chose to use. It was amazing. I won't have it frequently, due to the high calorie content of the heavy cream, but I sure will enjoy it when I do fix it. It's a keeper.

  39. I made this tonight & it's a winner winner chicken dinner! Any ideas on how to make this for a crowd?

  40. I made this tonight & it's a winner winner chicken dinner. Any ideas of how to do this for a crowd?

  41. I made this to specifications and my husband and kids LOVED it! It was a bit spicy but it didn't seem to bother them. My 2 year old daughter had second helpings. Paired with roasted broccoli, made a fantastic meal. Thank you!

  42. I made this with Vegeta Gourmet stock powder instead of the spices you listed. Made it a lot more child friendly, as kids won't eat anything spicy or overly garlic flavoured.
I added in some spinach, spring onions and peas to the mix, and a little fresh parmesan which helped with the thickening. Ended up being a lot like a Carbonara without the fuss that using eggs brings.
Next time I think I'll try it with some bacon and mushrooms too.

  43. Found this recipe on Pinterest and decided to test it out…was not disappointed. I was able to make this with pretty much what I had on hand. SO is not a fan of spice…so I just used paprika and also was short 1/2 c. of heavy cream…subbed with cream of chicken and mushroom mixed with a bit of milk to thin it out. The plate was licked clean 🙂 and I'm looking forward to eating my lunch today, which happens to be these leftovers.

  44. Made a very similar recipe for years, in fact was going to make it tonight. Our seasoning is just garlic salt and Lawry's Seasoning salt, tho. We call it Chicken Ala Creme from a recipe I found, my kids call it Salty Chicken. May have to try it with the chili powder someday, nice touch!

  45. Subbed fat free 1/2&1/2, thickened with corn starch, added mushrooms. Next time I'll use olive oil instead of butter to make it super healthy.

  46. I made this last night and it was a hit! So yummy! Not too spicy at all, just perfect. I will definitely be making this again.

  47. I thought I recognized your website when I saw your Mom's Turkey and Dressing recipe..now I remember why! I used this recipe awhile back and we loveeed chicken this way! Who would guess the spices and cream could do such wonders to chicken! lol

  48. I made this, it was easy and totally delicious…thickened right up and we had it over mashed. Yum. Posted it on FB, and several friends have made it and posted raves. Thanks so much!

  49. I make this frequently using jarred alfredo sauce instead of heavy cream, and reducing about 1/3 cup of dry white wine in the pan with the butter by about half before adding the alfredo. It's delicious! I have to serve it over noodles with bread on the side to mop up any leftover sauce.

  50. Made a veggie version of this today for just myself and it was fabulous! I added a swirl of honey as the sauce was finishing, reminds me of the honey Chipotle chicken pasta at Cheesecake Factory!

  51. Hi everyone, please cook this sauce at HIGH HEAT so it will thicken. Since you aren't using a roux, that's how it will thicken. I'm just trying to save everyone the frustration of combing through the comments when your sauce hasn't thickened whatsoever over lowered/medium heat (as it says in the instructions) after ten minutes. Either that, or just make a roux as you would with an alfredo. The seasoning will still be there.

    1. Thank you! I was really frustrated that my sauce wouldn't thicken as I cooked it per the instructions above.

  52. Made this tonight and it was delicious. Added mushrooms, onions(To use them up) and crushed red pepper flakes. Also broke up some lasagna noodles as that's all I had.

  53. Made this tonight. It was good. Added mushrooms, onions and some crushed red pepper flakes . I also broke up some lasagna noodles as that's all I had. 🙂

  54. Made tonight and everyone devoured it! Next time I'm adding mushrooms and maybe red bell peppers. Delicious!

  55. Are you in America? Because chili powder is all about the same here. It's not a certain chile powder, but a blend to season chili.

  56. absolutely one of the best pasta/chicken dishes i've ever made. family loves it! soooo delicious 😀

  57. I didn't have heavy cream (I usually don't have it on hand and don't need it). I used skim milk. After the chicken was browned on both sides, I removed it from the pan, added 1T butter, 2T flour, stirred until smooth then added 2 cups of skim milk. Simmered until thickened, then added the chicken back to the pan. I also seasoned the sauce with a little salt and pepper.

  58. I use evaporated milk instead of the cream ig its too thin I dissolve 1T of corn starch with 1T water, and that thickens it up fine. I used Italian Sausage instead of chicken the other night, that's the only way my fam wants it now.

  59. I use evaporated milk instead of the cream ig its too thin I dissolve 1T of corn starch with 1T water, and that thickens it up fine. I used Italian Sausage instead of chicken the other night, that's the only way my fam wants it now.

  60. YUM! I made this tonight and we loved it! I only had 10 chicken tenders but didn't think it was 2 pounds worth so I adjusted the seasonings a little and only used 1 cup heavy cream. Mmm, especially over mashed potatoes! Will definitely be making again. May even try making it with shrimp next time.

  61. Hello, when cooking the chicken, do you cover it or give each each side 4 minutes? I wasn't sure so I turned it. Thanks! So excited to eat dinner 🙂

  62. Made this for lunch today! So easy and delicious! Kids loved it. I added just a pinch of chicken bouillon to the sauce. Wow! Cant wait to make it again & try adding some veggies. Thanks for a great recipe.

  63. Made this with evaporated milk and a little corn starch. This is very good and quick and easy. It's a keeper.

  64. Can this be frozen and used later? I was thinking of making a skillet full of this, but with just the two of us it will be too much. I like freezing half of normal recipes but am unsure if this will work because of the cream.

  65. I have made this a few times, always over pasta, just enough sauce to coat, and not drown the pasta. I don't use the hot pepper, I use smoked paprika instead.

  66. This was delicious! I was out of garlic powder, so I just sautéed one clove of minced garlic in the melted butter after cooking the chicken and before adding the cream. I served it with quinoa. Everyone loved it. Will definitely make again, maybe with some sliced mushrooms added in.

  67. I love this recipe as is, but modified it into what is now a standing favorite. Instead of cream, I used jarred alfredo sauce and about 1/4 cup of vermouth. The mix of spices is amazing in that extra creamy sauce. Thank you for sharing this excellent dish!

  68. Just tried this. My husband and I loved it! Absolutely delicious. I put mine over some homemade mashed potatoes and I didn't have enough cream so I added some corn starch. 5 stars!

  69. OMG, we made this tonight, and it's now our new favourite recipe. We don't like spicy very much but I still wanted the flavour, so I reduced the chili powder to 1/2 tsp and left out the cayenne. I served it over brown rice. It was delicious. Thank you.

  70. I made this tonight and it was great. Not too spicy but you get a hint of heat. I served mine over egg noodles but definitely want to try mashed potatoes next time with the delicious gravy/sauce. I did 1/2 the recipe since there are only two of us and it was perfect! Thanks for sharing, glad I found you through Pinterest.

  71. This sounds amazing!!! I can't wait to try it… But it sounds like it may need some sort of CHEESE?!?!?! What do you recommend?

  72. Followed the directions exactly and it was absolutely awesome.. All of us loved it, and ours did have heat. Our spices cooked on the chicken like a blackened crust, and when I added the cream and butter and kept simmering the chicken it made an amazing spicy cream sauce. Second time I used chipotle chili powder which added great smoke flavor, and a cup of frozen peas at the end. Even better!

  73. ErMahGerd! This was fabulous! Loved it! Hope you don't mind if I share this on my blog and give you props. Yummm! This one is a keeper.

  74. Made this a couple of nights ago. My kids and hubby loved it! Will definitely be making this in a regular basis! I added sliced red bell peppers added extra color and delicious taste!! Thanks for sharing!

  75. This dish is too bland, lacks seasoning on chicken and sauce too. It was just ok. Ill be doing this again but putting my own twist to it.

  76. Steph, did you ever make it with the andouille sausage? I will be making this in the upcoming week! Your recipes are so yummy!!!

  77. Made it last night, Steph, it was wonderful! I loved the seasoning- very subtle and not spicy at all. I served it with zucchini noodles, added mushrooms and half the amount of cream. Thank you, this is a make again- Oh I put the chicken under the broiler a bit while I made the sauce.

  78. Doing Lo Carb and making this tonight but over Zucchini "noodles" that I made with my new spiral slicer. Adding some mushrooms too- looks delicious!

  79. Made this! Super yummy!!! I made it the regular way (by the recipe)..tried it first..was very good 🙂 Then, I noticed the bottle of Moscato in my fridge, so I added a little of that and squeezed in a fresh lemon. Yummy to my tummy!!!
**Just a note: I served this over garlic mashed potatoes and it really took away from the sauce. The sauce is so yummy by itself, I could just eat it with a spoon. I would recommend serving with just roasted potatoes on the side or over pasta.

  80. Made this tonight used light cream and added a bag of fresh spinach. Yum! Turned out great and served over the angel hair.

  81. Wow! Just made this tonight for dinner. So simple to make and really delicious. Very flavorful sauce. I love how there was a hint of spicy "heat" in the background. Not overpowering at all. Yummy!

  82. I made this for dinner earlier this week and it was fabulous! And my coworkers were swarming at my leftovers.

  83. Didn't get enough cream from store gonna try evampoated milk(powder) might help with thickening, also added fresh cherry tomatoes from garden and some fresh mushrooms, sauce tastes great can wait till it's done

  84. Zandi – I left them in, but you can take them out and put them back in once the sauce has thickened.

  85. so do i leave the chicken in the pan when it's done and add the cream/butter, or do you take it out before that step?

  86. This looks so good. I'm trying to stay away from things like cream and butter, but I might have to make an exception with this one!

  87. YOU HAVE GOT TO HAVE THE BEST FOOD PAGE/WEBPAGE .. I CAN NOT MAKE HALF OF WHAT YOU DO, BUT, I SURE DO WISH I LIVED ON YOUR STREET BECAUSE YOU COULD BRING ME SAMPLES ANYTIME… THANKS FOR SHARING ALL THE GOODY RECIPES AN PIC'S….

  88. I made this last night and used evaporated milk in place of the cream and it didn't thicken like it should have. It was good but it looked nothing like the picture and I think we really missed out on the creaminess.

    1. thank you for this reply. I have evaporated milk in hand and didn't want to go to the store for heavy cream on a cold, rainy day. I plan to try this tonight for the first time.

  89. Sounds wonderful but am faced with the same ol' dilemma…
needing an alternative for the cream.
Fat free half and half separates when it gets hot. What else is lower in fat and cholesterol?

    1. Also a cauliflower puree Alfredo sauce is amazing with this dish, have a couple of diabetics in the family. So I substitute all the time.

  90. Judy – the sauce won't thicken as much if you use half-and-half. You can add a little flour to help it thicken up or just have a thinner sauce. Either way it will be delicious! Enjoy!

  91. Ah ha ! I knew I saw 'green' ! It's going on the menu for this weekend. I'm already getting hungry!

    Thanks for the quick response.

  92. Denise – I just sprinkled a little parsley on the chicken before I took the pictures. Hope you enjoy it!

    1. I’ve made this recipe for years now but haven’t got around to commenting. Just wanted to share with everyone how amazing it is! My kids love it and it’s definitely a staple in our house. I love that it only takes 15-20 minutes to cook. We have it at least once or twice a month and use spaghetti noodles. I also chop up the chicken and cook it that way. It’s just easier with small children.

  93. I think I am seeing specks of green in this dish but can't find anything with green in any of the seasonings listed. Am I wrong ? Did you use garlic with parsley powder ? Looks delish, though, but before I try this out, I'd like the answer ?? Thanks.

      1. I’ve made this maybe 20 times now.Its fabulous. Its a staple in my house.Ive done it with breasts and boneless thighs

    1. I make this often, and it’s always a hit! I only wish I could figure out how to serve it to guests without me plating their food. If I put the spaghetti in a big dish with the chicken and sauce on top of it, the pasta is going to soak up all of the sauce. Anyone have any suggestions?

  94. Angela – I didn't think it was hot, but you can leave out the cayenne if you think it might be too hot. Enjoy!

  95. What kind of chile powder? There is an infinite variety of them – type of chile, heat, etc. (Some even say chile powder when meaning hot pepper, i.e. cayenne). Thanks!

    1. We used ancho chile and it was a home run. Wasn't as much heat as I had expected. We'll use a little more cayennne on the next try. Awesome and simple little recipe!

    1. In my opinion it wasnt that spicy. All my kids loved it and they range in age from 5 to 11 yrs old. Hope that helps!
