Deer Valley Resort @ Park City, UT

I just got back from an AMAZING trip to the Deer Valley Resort, courtesy of my friend, Amanda, from KevinAndAmanda.com.  Amanda’s husband, Kevin, couldn’t make the trip so she invited me to go with her and her parents! I have always wanted to go skiing, so I was SUPER excited!!
We spent 5 days and 4 nights at the Stein Erikson Lodge. It was luxury at its best!
The staff was incredible and the rooms were super nice.
We had a two bedroom suite with a full kitchen, den, fireplace, a private balcony with a hot tub and incredible view.

This fireplace in the lobby was one of our favorite warming stations!

The view from the Stein Erikson Lodge was beautiful!
This is looking down towards Silver Lake Village.

Dinner was at the Royal Street Cafe. It was delicious.
They are known for their Turkey Chili.
I went with the cheeseburger and parmesan herb fries. I ate it all!!!!

 MONDAY
The sunrises in Deer Valley are some of the most amazing I’ve seen.

After picking up our skis at Deer Valley Ski Rental, we hopped on the ski lift and headed down to our ski lessons.
Amanda’s Dad rode with me and made sure I didn’t fall off! LOL!

The views were amazing on the lift!
I could have just ridden the lifts all day.

This was my first time EVER putting on skis.
I spent three hours on the bunny slopes.
The instructors at the Deer Valley Ski School were so patient with me.
Let’s just say I am not the most athletic person on the planet.
I still have a LONG way to go!

After the lessons, we had lunch at the Snow Park Restaurant.
They had a variety of food to choose from – burgers, pizza, sandwiches, soups and chili.
I went with the Tomato Basil Soup. It really hit the spot after skiing.
Dinner was at the Stein Erikson Lodge restaurant, Glitretind.
The bread basket was great. We especially loved the lavish crackers!
We started with the Veal Cheeks with Fingerling Chips and B̩arnaise Sauce Рvery tender.
I got the Filet Of Double R Ranch Beef with
Creamed Idaho Potato Gratin, Romanesca, Rogue Blue Cheese for my entree. It was cooked perfectly!

Amanda ordered us a trio of desserts.
Pear and Milk Chocolate Mousse  – Molasses Cake, Poached Pear, Mulled Wine Sauce, Milk Chocolate Gelato
Doughnuts and Marshmallows РHousemade Cinnamon Marshmallows, Cr̬me Frąche, Walnut Nougat, Cinnamon Gelato
Chocolate Custard and French Toast – Mexican Chocolate, Mascarpone Cream, Vanilla Olive Oil, Espresso Gelato

They were all beautiful and equally delicious!
After dinner we took the shuttle over to the St. Regis Hotel for s’mores.
We rode the Funicular up to the top of the hotel.
The view was awesome!
Ooey, gooey, s’mores!
Sweet ending to a great day!
 TUESDAY
Another beautiful sunrise.
I could watch this every day!

I decided to pass on skiing today and relax by the fire in the lodge.
I could really get use to this!
(By the way, these North Face boots were awesome! Waterproof and fully lined. My feet stayed nice and toasty the whole trip.)

The views from the Stein Erikson Lodge were beautiful.

I couldn’t pass up a glass of hot chocolate by the fire.

I met Amanda for lunch at the Silver Lake Restaurant.
It was similar to the Snow Park Restaurant from Monday.
We both got the grilled cheese. It was yummy. Packed with tons of cheese.

After lunch, we headed down to Main Street in Park City.
They had lots of cute shops to check out.

I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have my picture taken with Franz the Bear.

We also found this fun fence made out of skis.

Dinner was at The Mariposa
This was my favorite dinner of the trip. I absolutely loved everything I ate.
The Mariposa is a tasting restaurant.
The portions are small, and they recommend 3-5 plates per person.
I started with the Butternut Squash and Brie soup. It was delicious!
Next up was the Lemon~Thyme Gnocchi with beurre blanc and Rockhill Creamery aged edam.
I wanted to lick my plate. I didn’t, but only because I was in public!
I will be recreating this at home ASAP.
My final course was the Grilled Niman Ranch Prime Beef Tenderloin Filet with maple peppered bacon, crisp potatoes anna,  roasted cipolline onions,
rich red wine sauce, and horseradish cr̬me frąche Рamazing! I ate every last bite!
WEDNESDAY
Good Morning!

The spa at Stein Erikson Lodge is the only Forbe’s Five Star Spa in Utah.
I couldn’t pass up that up!
I got a Stein Signature Massage and it was incredible. I was so relaxed afterward.
It also helped my aching calves (from skiing).

The view from the back of the spa was very relaxing!
We hit up the Skiers Buffet at Stein Erikson Lodge for lunch.
It was SO good!
They had seafood, hot dishes, a pasta bar and a ton of desserts.
I had a hard time deciding what to eat. Too many good choices.
I ended up going withe the pasta bar – penne, Italian sausage, pancetta, and Alfredo sauce.
It was one of the best Alfredo sauces I’ve ever eaten. I wish I had a bowl right now!
After lunch, we had a 2-hour snowmobiling tour scheduled with Summit Meadows Adventures.

Baby, it’s cold outside! I had to bundle up!

We rode all around Garff Ranch on our Ski-Doos.
The handlebars were heated and the motor kept us warm while we rode around.

It was very white outside, but we still were able to catch glimpses of the Wasatch Mountains and Deer Valley.

I absolutely LOVED snowmobiling!
I’m not surprised, since I love to drive fast.
I went over 50 mph and caught air off one hill!!
Chicken Legs would have loved this too.
I can not wait to come back and do this again with him.
Our final dinner in Deer Valley was at High West Distillery and Saloon.
It is located on Main Street in Park City.
It is Utah’s first legal distillery since 1870.

It was hopping inside!

I loved this wall of lights.

I started out with the High West Vodka Lemonade. I had to try it since they distill the vodka here.
They brought out some yummy jalapeño cheddar biscuits to start.
We got a couple of appetizers.
The Pretzel Sticks and Beer Cheese.
I am sucker for pretzels and beer cheese. I loved this!
We also had to try the Mac and Cheese Bites. They were made with  smoked cheddar, bacon, and roasted poblano peppers.
It came with two dipping sauces. They were great.
For my entree I went with the Whiskey Braised Short Rib and Fried Polenta. So tender and delicious.
They needed to roll me outta here! I was stuffed!

THURSDAY
We finally got some snow overnight.

It was beautiful!

A little visual of how much snow we got.
We probably got about 4-5 inches at the hotel.
I think they got about 7-8 inches of fresh powder on the slopes.

We had such an amazing trip!
I ate way too much and had way too much fun!
Amanda and her parents were so much fun to travel with. They are so sweet and laid back.
Amanda even prefers the middle seat on the plane – hello best travel buddy!
Make sure to check out KevinAndAmanda.com for Amanda’s recap posts.
She takes the most beautiful pictures!
She will also have lots of amazing views from the slopes.
My views from the bunny slopes weren’t blog worthy. 😉

  3. I first read about your trip on Amanda's website and she linked to you. Her pictures are truly beautiful, but it's all about the food, and I loved your photos and descriptions of where you ate. Don't think we'll ever be in the stratosphere of being able to afford such a glorious vacation, but it was fun to experience it through you and Amanda.
