These Creole Green Beans are on repeat at our house. They are super easy to make and taste great! We serve these green beans with just about everything. Chicken, pork, or beef. They are also great with your favorite cajun/creole meal! We ate them with a Cajun Dirty Rice Casserole last week. SO good!

How to Make Creole Green Beans

To make the greens, cook some bacon. Add onion and bell pepper to the pan and cook until softened. Stir in flour, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and dry mustard. Add stewed tomatoes and Worcestershire sauce. Stir in green beans and cook until thickened and thoroughly heated.

  • I used canned green beans. Feel free to substitute fresh or frozen green beans.
    • You will need 2.25-pounds of fresh green beans.
    • You will need 3 (9-oz) bags of frozen green beans.
  • If using fresh green beans, cook them for about 9 minutes in boiling water before adding them to the skillet.
  • If using frozen green beans, cook them according to the package directions before adding to the skillet.
  • Feel free to substitute turkey bacon for the pork bacon.
  • Can Creole Green Beans be made in advance? Yes! This recipe makes about 6 servings. Even though there are only two of us, I made the whole recipe so we could have leftovers for the rest of the week. They tasted great reheated and it saved me a bunch of time cooking dinner.
  • Can Creole Green Beans be frozen? Yes! You can make the green beans and freeze the leftovers for a quick side dish later. To reheat, thaw and reheat in the microwave or the stovetop.
