Walt Disney World – Where To Eat & Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

We recently got back from a 5 night trip to Disney World.
We arrived at Disney World just in time for the last two days of the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. We ate SO much food! It was wonderful!
I shared everything we ate last week on the blog. You can read all about it here: https://www.plainchicken.com/2014/11/epcot-international-food-wine-festival.html

We ate at several new places on this trip. We finally checked out Le Cellier in Canada and The Hollywood Brown Derby in Hollywood Studios. We also discovered our love of English pubs!

Epcot
We discovered tons of new things to eat and drink in Epcot this year.
German Chocolate Chip Cookie with Caramel
We love all of the caramel items in Germany.
We tried a new treat – the German Chocolate Chip Cookie with Caramel. SO good!
Croissant Doughnut tossed in Cinnamon Sugar
Um, best thing we ate!
We got this at the Epcot Refreshment Port.
It is worth the trip to Disney World to eat this Croissant Doughnut.
Rose and Crown Pub
We spent a lot of time in the Rose and Crown Pub in England.
We were sad this was our first time in here!
Chicken Legs had the Fish and Chips from the Yorkshire County Fish Shop just outside of the pub.
He loved it!
We tried our very first Banger.
The Rose and Crown battered the sausage in the same batter as the fish and fried it.
It was delicious!
We would definitely get it again.
The Scotch Egg was a surprise hit with us.
Hard boiled egg, wrapped in sausage and fried.
I actually enjoyed this and I don’t even like hard boiled eggs.
Chicken Legs is obsessed with Scotch Eggs now!
We enjoyed numerous cocktails in the pub.
I had a Cider and Black – Strongbow Apple Cider with a shot Black Currant Juice.
LOVED it!
I also tried a Pimm’s Cup.
Pimm’s No. 1 and Sprite. It was good, but I preferred the Cider and Black.
We skipped the Canada booth at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival because we had dinner reservations at Le Cellier. This was our first time at Le Cellier. We were so excited!
I started with an Ice Wine Martini. It was very tasty.
The bread – OMG!
The pretzel was out of this world!
We couldn’t pass up the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup.
I wanted to lick the bowl!
The recipe was in last year’s cookbook. I made it at home and it tasted just as good as the real thing!
We had to try the Le Cellier Poutine Fries.
The fries were topped with Canadian Cheddar, Black Truffle, and a Red Wine Reduction.
They were crazy good!
Chicken Legs ordered the Kurobuta Pork
There were two types of pork РProsciutto-wrapped Tenderloin with Parsnip Pur̩e and Brussels Sprouts.
and Crispy Pork Belly, Hazelnuts, Heirloom Rainbow Carrots, and Huckleberry Jam
I got the Le Cellier Filet Mignon.
It was AAA Canadian Beef Tenderloin, over a Wild Mushroom Risotto, Heirloom Toy Box Tomatoes, and a Truffle-Butter Sauce.
This recipe was also in the Epcot Food and Wine Festival Cookbook last year.
We made it at home and loved it.
I read about an amazing dessert in the France pavilion.
Croque Glacé –
Any Flavor Ice Cream in a Warm Brioche with Chocolate or Raspberry Sauce.
We got Salted Caramel Ice Cream and Chocolate Sauce.
Amazing!
It was really warm while we were in Orlando.
I cooled off one afternoon with a Frozen Jim Beam Red Stag lemonade from Fife and Drum in the American pavilion.
Jim Beam Red Stag is a cherry flavored whiskey. It was really good mixed in with the frozen lemonade.
School Bread at the Kringla Bakeri og Cafe in Norway was a new favorite.
Sweet cardamom bun filled with vanilla creme custard and topped with glazed and toasted coconuts
I really liked it. Especially since it wasn’t super sweet.
The Troll Horn – a Lingonberry jam with whipped cream in a crispy pastry sugar-coated shell.
Kringla Sweet Pretzel with Almonds – A sweet raisin pretzel glazed with icing and toasted almonds.
This was really good. Again, not too sweet.
Via Napoli in Italy might be my favorite dinner place.
I love everything here!
The pizza ovens are so fun!
Arancini – fried risotto balls filled with mozzarella and meat ragù.
We inhaled these little rice balls!
Next time we are getting two orders!
This might be the best pizza ever!
The fresh mozzarella cheese puts this over the top!
And that pepperoni! Look how it curled!!!
I ate more of this than I care to admit. *oink oink*
I have no self control with this pizza.
We gave the Tiramisu a try for dessert.
It was very good.
Animal Kingdom
The one treat we cannot pass up is the Hand Scooped Ice Cream Sandwich from Dino-Bite Snacks.
They hand scoop vanilla ice cream and sandwich it between two huge homemade chocolate chip cookies.
There are only a few places to get this treat in all of Disney World.
Make sure you get one! It will easily feed 2-3 people.
Hollywood Studios
We had lunch at The Hollywood Brown Derby.
This was our first time dining at The Hollywood Brown Derby and we LOVED it!
Chicken Legs got the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken.
It was the best Fettuccine Alfredo we have ever eaten.
We would definitely get it again.
I got the Andouille Crusted Chicken Sandwich.
Delicious!
It was chicken topped with thin slices of andouille sausage, white cheddar and smoked bacon.
My sandwich came with fries.
We both loved the sandwich. We would get it next time too.
We couldn’t pass up dessert.
We got the mini dessert trio.
Banana Toffee Cake
on Cocoa Crunch and Strawberry-Banana Pearls
Brown Derby Original Mini Grapefruit Cake
Amaretto Flan and Opalys White Chocolate Whip
with an Almond Cookie
The desserts were good, but not spectacular.
We always get a Carrot Cake Cookie from The Writer’s Stop.
SO GOOD!
Carrot Cake filled with cream cheese frosting.
It is HUGE! Plan on sharing this.
Our favorite watering hole is the Tune In Lounge at the Prime Time 50s Cafe.
We always make a pit stop for a few adult beverages.
We needed a snack, so we tried the Onion Rings. They are served with a horseradish sauce.
They hit the spot!
We saw these doughnuts all over Disney World.
We finally broke down and bought one on our last morning.
It is HUGE!
We loved it!
The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights is the most amazing light display!
There are millions of lights! I wish I could make my house look like this!
Magic Kingdom
We had lunch at Pinocchio Village Haus in Fantasyland.
The pizza is actually really good.
The tomato basil soup is one of the best (if not the best) tomato soups I’ve ever eaten.
You need to try it!
Christmas started while we were at Disney World.
We love to go to the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
It is a special event held at the Magic Kingdom.
It requires a separate ticket and runs from 7pm to Midnight.
The park is beautifully decorated and they make it snow on Main Street!
Cinderella’s Castle is decorated with icicles.
It looks incredible.
There is a special Christmas parade and the most amazing fire works show we’ve ever seen.
We usually watch it near Frontierland.
This year we watched it in front of the castle.
SO much better. There are spinning fireworks on the castle and Tinkerbell flies across the sky!
The fireworks are worth the price of admission.
We always eat a burger at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe.
The have a topping bar with sautéed onions and mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, and melted cheese.
During the Christmas party there are stations set up all around the park with free treats!
Chicken Legs loves the sugar cookies and hot chocolate.
We got to ride all of our favorite rides with virtually no wait.
We stayed at the park until a little after 11:00.
We try to leave right before the second showing of the Christmas parade to beat the crowd.
I already miss Disney World!
We had such a fun time.
We ate a TON of food and walked over 50 miles in the 5 days we were there.

What are you favorite places to eat in Disney World?
I need suggestions for our next trip!

  2. I don't even know why they bother the the other bread at LeCellier. It's all about the pretzel bread!! YUM! The cob salad at the Brown Derby is also delish.

  4. Oh this makes me miss WDW so much. We went from living 3 hours away to half a world away, so I miss it terribly. I can't believe you hadn't been to Rose and Crown before! The restaurants in Morocco are some of my husband's favorite. He declares that the Tangierine Cafe has the best quick service meals on property. We moved away before the new Spice Road opened, but I'm sure it's good, too. We have stayed at most of the deluxe hotels and they all have unique items to try. I LOVE the Smore's cupcake at Roaring Forks in the Wilderness Lodge. I am a cupcake junkie at Disney! I love those ice cream sandwiches, too, but I usually get one at Sleepy Hollow in MK.

  5. Strongbow Apple Cider is my favorite and so darned good! I haven't tried it with Black Currant but I will ASAP. It's crazy but my husband thinks the cider tastes better out of the can and I prefer it out of the bottle. Either way, it's good stuff!
