How to Store Peach Dump Cake

The cake is a favorite at our house. Since it used canned peaches, it can be made year-round. You can make the cake a day or two in advance and keep it in the refrigerator. I suggest warming the cake in the microwave just before serving.

  1. I’ve never used more than (2) cans of Peaches.
    I drain off NOTHING.
I chop the Peach slices in half so they will be more bite sized

  2. I don’t know how I managed to mess this one up, but it happened. I followed the directions exactly using the same ingredients and amounts listed. While it tasted very good, there was still dry cake mix all across the top at the end of the suggested baking period. I ended up pulling it out of the oven, pressing the mix into peaches and baking an additional 30 min. It was better, but still not right. The peach juice never really bubbled to the top.

Any hints on how to rectify this problem. I’d really like to be able to try it again.

  3. Just made this in my Dutch Oven. I used half the syrup (saw the other reviews) and it came out great, though still a little watery. 1 can of syrup next time.

  4. Trying in smaller pan cuz i only had 2 cans of peaches & it’s in the oven now checking at 30 jic

    1. Did you drain one of the cans of peaches? The cobbler won’t be dry. It will have some liquid in the dish.

  5. You said it well when you described as heaven haha. Why anyone would want to try to make this healthier I don't know. I used salted butter too and it was a huge hit.

  6. I used about 4 cups fresh peaches with 1 cup of sugar, heated in a saucepan until sugar melts and liquid from the sugar nd peaches comes up to a simmer. Remove from heat added to the prepared pan and followed the rest of the directions as written. It turned out great!

  7. How about using canned peaches in its own juice? would that work? I don't particularly care for peaches in heavy syrup.

  8. Yum!! To address the question above…fresh peaches don't have the syrup needed for the cake to bake.
