How to Make Pigs in a Blanket

These pigs in a blanket are super easy to make! They take about 5 minutes to prepare and about 15 minutes to bake. Start with separating the crescent roll dough into triangles. Cut each triangle into 3 triangles. Spread ranch dressing over the crescent rolls, top with precooked bacon, cheddar cheese slice, and a lit’l smokie. Roll up and place on a baking sheet.

  • What does “crack” mean? Crack refers to the combination of cheddar, bacon, and ranch. It all started with Crack Dip way back in 2007. If a recipe has “crack” in the title it means it has cheddar, bacon, and ranch and is really, really good!
  • I use a pizza cutter to cut crescent rolls into three triangles.
  • Can use regular or low-fat crescent rolls.
  • I like Ken’s Ranch Dressing or Hidden Valley Ranch. You can also use our Homemade Outback Ranch Dressing: https://www.plainchicken.com/copycat-outback-ranch-dressing/
  • Can substitute precooked turkey bacon for regular pork bacon.
  • Can Crack Pigs in a Blanket be made in advance? Sure. You can assemble the pigs in a blanket and refrigerate them for a few hours before baking. This appetizer is good hot out of the oven or cooled to room temperature. I think these taste best the day they are baked.
  • If you are transporting these to a party, look at getting an insulated carrier. I like this one from Pyrex: (affiliate link) https://amzn.to/3kk5ggs
  • How many pigs in a blanket per person? This recipe makes 3 dozen pigs in a blanket. I estimate each person will eat about 4 pigs in a blanket depending on what else you serve. I would say that is enough for 9 to 10 people.

  1. Oh, I would be in trouble with these. I also am dropping by to thank you for the Easy Potato Roll recipe as comments on that post are closed. The rolls are so easy to make and have replaced biscuits at my house. I make them at least once a week. They are great with butter and jam, under gravy, and I even snack on any leftovers cold. One of the best recipes I found in 2017. Also, I love your cats. We have 2.
