I’m behind on my travel posts. The holidays got in the way of sharing about our trips, so I will be catching up over the next few weeks. First up is our trip to NYC. This fall we took a quick trip to NYC to see Lenny Kravitz in concert. We spent three nights in town and ate at some really fun new spots in the city. Burgers, crazy milkshakes, PIZZA, steak and pasta!!!

We stayed at a new hotel this time – The London. The room was large for NYC. The bathroom shower was incredible! I would definitely recommend checking it out. The location was PERFECT! We could walk to most of our favorite places to eat lunch/dinner. It was also close enough to do some window shopping at all the fancy shops!

We go to NYC at least once a year, so let me know if you have any favorites we need to add to our list!

Black Tap Craft Burger & Beer

Our first stop after we checked into the hotel was at Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer.
It was around the block from our hotel.

We started with a couple of burgers.
Chicken Legs got the Mexico City – prime burger, pepperjack cheese, pickled jalepenos, chipotle mayo, crispy onion ring

I got the Texan – prime burger, aged cheddar, crispy onion ring, bacon, sweet baby rays bbq, mayo.
They were surprisingly good!!!

The fries were also DELICIOUS!

You can’t go to Black Tap and NOT get a crazy milkshake!
We shared the Sweet N’ Salty Peanut Butter Shake
Chocolate frosted rim with chocolate gems & PB cups topped with a sugar daddy, pretzel rods, chocolate covered pretzel, whipped cream & chocolate drizzle
WOW!!!

Keens Steakhouse
Keens Steakhouse has been on our list for awhile. It is always on the list of best steakhouses in the US, so we decided to finally give it a try.
It was PACKED! There are two stories in the restaurant. We were seated up stairs.
There is a full bar upstairs as well as lots of seating and SPOONS all over the ceiling. ?????

We started with a caesar salad and BACON! SO good!
We got a couple of steaks. Chicken Legs got sautéed mushrooms for his side and I got a baked potato.
Everything was good.

For dessert, we got the hot fudge sundae.

Keens is a great steakhouse, BUT we have eaten at better places.

We enjoyed the meal, but it wasn’t anything spectacular.
We probably wouldn’t go back.

Eataly
We always LOVE to hit up Eataly on our trips.

Last year we ate at the Flatiron location, so we this year we ate at the NYC Downtown location.

I started with the Frosé – frozen Rosé wine. O-M-G! This is my new favorite.

We started with some prosciutto and mozzarella.

It was amazing.
We got some pistachio parmesan pesto that was incredible! I didn’t want to share!

We always get a pizza when we eat at Eataly.
We went simple with cheese and pepperoni.

It was just as good, if not better, than what we ate in Italy.

We couldn’t leave without sampling some cannolis. YUM!

After lunch we walked around the 9-11 Memorial and then took the subway back to the hotel.

The reason for our trip was to see Lenny Kravitz in concert.
This was bucket list item for me.
I’ve loved Lenny Kravitz forever, and this was my first time to see him in concert.
He played at the United Center in Washington Heights.
The concert was THE BEST!!!! Lenny was amazing. He rocked it for 2 hours straight!
TOTALLY worth the trip!

Tanner Smith’s

We didn’t eat dinner before the concert, so we grabbed a literal midnight snack at Tanner Smith’s.
It was across the street from our hotel, so it was perfect!

We got an order of the Beef Skillet Nachos.
They were served as dip and chips.

We also got an order of the BACON WRAPPED WINGS!

OMG! Amazing! I am definitely going to recreate these at home!

Patsy’s Pizzeria
I wanted to try a new pizza place on this trip, so we walked down to Patsy’s Pizzeria for lunch.

Patsy’s pizza is made in a coal-fired oven.
I happen love coal-fired oven pizza, so this was delicious!!!
We shared a small pizza with sausage & pepperoni. LOVE that curly pepperoni!!!

Da Marino
We ended our trip at Da Marino. We discovered Da Marino on our trip last year and LOVED it!
The food and atmosphere are great!!!
We started our meal with some Italian Sausage over polenta.
It was AMAZING! I could have eaten the whole thing myself.

Chicken Legs ordered a Caesar Salad – he loved it.

For my entree, I got the Penne A La Vodka.
Pasta perfection! I LOVE the yummy pink vodka sauce!

Chicken Legs got the Chicken Parmesan.
It came with a side of pasta.
There was absolutely NO room for dessert.
Next time we are going to have to start with dessert to make sure we have room.

This is our favorite place in NYC.

The staff is super friendly. They have live music and the food is fantastic!
It isn’t super fancy, it is just a great old-school NY Italian joint.
Check it out!

  1. Though I have never been, you may want to try 212 Steakhouse in NYC. It is the only restaurant East of the Mississippi that has been given permission to serve Kobe beef. From what I have read there are only 9 total places authorized to sell Kobe beef in the USA. You may want to take a little extra cash. hahaha

  2. Try Quality Meats or Delmonico's for a great steak next time. Keene's and Peter Lugar's is on everyone's list but nobody goes there anymore, they are to crowded. I believe Delmonico's was the first steakhouse in America.
