Las Vegas Travel Guide

Today I am sharing all about our favorite places to eat on the Las Vegas Strip. Vegas is one of our favorite vacation destinations. We got at least twice a year, if not three times. We spend our time eating and drinking our way down The Strip. Hitting up our favorite restaurants and looking for new and exciting places to eat.

I’ve got cocktail bars, pizza, seafood, steakhouses, Italian food, Irish pubs, and more. Save this post to use as a reference when you are planning your next trip to Sin City.

Where to Stay in Las Vegas

I get a lot of questions about where we stay on our Las Vegas trips. We’ve stayed at several places on The Strip – The Palazzo, The Venetian, The Four Seasons, The Mirage, The MGM, and The Aria. They are all great, but our go-to place in recent years is The Aria. The location is great and the rooms are super nice. It also has a nice casino in it. The Aria has tons of great restaurants and there is also great shopping right next door at The Shops at Crystals. It is a tram ride away from The Park MGM and The Bellagio.

Catch – Las Vegas

catch floral sign

Catch has quickly become our favorite place in Vegas. We’ve eaten here three times and absolutely LOVE it. Every time we’ve had reservations but decided to eat dinner at the bar.

plate of sushi

Chicken Legs started with the Hellfire Roll: Spicy Tuna Two Ways, Pear, and Balsamic. He loved it!

sashimi sushi on a plate

He also got some tuna sashimi and a crab roll. Hands-down the best sushi in town!

chicken bao buns in a steam basket

I got a small order of the Chicken Bao Buns. Pickled cucumber, iceberg, and sweet chili glaze. I love bao buns and these were great. They weren’t on the menu on our most recent trip, but hopefully, they come back soon!

steak on a plate

For our entree, we split the Filet: 10 oz. Kabayaki Butter, Tempura Nori Flakes, Wasabi Soy. It was AMAZING!

filet skewers

The filet skewers are equally delicious. I get these when Chicken Legs has sushi for dinner.

corn on the cob on a plate

We also got an order of Corn Skewers. The corn was topped with Kabayaki Brown Butter and Chives. It was the BEST corn I’ve ever eaten. I was sad we only got one order. Next time we will get two orders of corn. I need to figure out how to recreate this corn at home. It was SO good!

chocolate ice cream cake on a plate

We weren’t hungry, but we couldn’t pass up the #HITME dessert: Liquid “Klondike,” Dulce de Leche Ice Cream, Brownie & Devil’s Food Cake.

melted ice cream oozing over chocolate cake

The dessert is called Hit Me because you take a spoon and hit the chocolate bar on top of the cake. The liquid ice cream oozes out all over the dessert. O-M-G! Look at that!! It was worth every single calorie!

Catch is located in the lobby of the Aria. It is an incredibly beautiful restaurant and the food is seriously amazing! I highly recommend coming here.

The Crack Shack

The Crack Shack is located just outside of Eataly at The Park MGM. They serve the yummiest chicken sandwiches! If you follow the blog, you know I LOVE me some Crack Chicken!

deviled eggs with bacon

We started with some deviled eggs. They were super creamy and delicious!

fried chicken sandwich and fries

For entrees, we had the Firebird: spicy fried Jidori thigh, cool ranch, crispy onions, and pickles on a potato roll. We split an order of fries – one order is plenty for two or three people.

We also tried the Señor Croque: crispy Jidori chicken, bacon, fried egg, cheddar, miso-maple butter on a brioche bun.

The sandwiches were delicious! You order at the counter and they give you a buzzer. When the buzzer goes off you pick your food up at the pickup window. Great for a quick and delicious meal!

Vanderpump Cocktail Garden

main entrance to vanderpump cocktail lounge

This was my favorite place we had cocktails. It is hands-down the most beautiful cocktail bar EVER. The floral decor is up there with Catch. Vanderpump Cocktail Lounge is located in Caesar’s Palace. Right at the entrance to the Forum Shops. They open at 4:00 pm and there is always a line to get inside.

We were seated in the back bar area.

meat skewers topped with corn

We also got an order of the Grilled Steak Skewers with toasted sourdough, chili, lemon, pistachio-herb chimichurri. SO good!

I was shocked at how good everything was. I really didn’t know what to expect from a reality star’s cocktail lounge, but I HIGHLY recommend Vanderpump Cocktail Lounge. It is SUPER beautiful and super delicious!

Carmine’s Italian Restaurant – Las Vegas

bread basket

Carmine’s is one of our favorite spots on the Strip. We go on almost every trip. The food is great! The food is served family-style and the portions are HUGE. Each entree will serve 4 to 6 people.

The meal starts off with an incredible bread basket. That tomato bread is AH-MAZ-ING!

plate of lemon garlic wings

Next up is our favorite Spicy Scarpariello Wings. They are loaded with lemon, garlic, and red pepper. They come with a yummy gorgonzola dipping sauce. We make these at home all the time. I need to share the recipe on the blog. They are surprisingly easy to make and will knock your socks off!

platter of penne alla vodka

We also got an order of Penne Alla Vodka. SO good! You can get the recipe here: https://www.plainchicken.com/carmines-penne-alla-vodka/ It is THE BEST!

meatballs on a plate

We couldn’t decide between the Penne Alla Vodka and meatballs, so the waiter suggested getting the pasta and a couple of meatballs on the side. WOW! SO good! I would definitely recommend getting a couple of meatballs with any meal. SO tender and flavorful.

3 layer strawberry shortcake

Dessert at Carmine’s is not to be missed. We opted for the Strawberry Shortcake on our last visit. Layers of whipped cream, marble pound cake, pistachios, and strawberries. It is delicious!

Carmine’s is one of our favorite spots on the Strip. It is located in the Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace. Good food, good cocktails, and great service. Make sure to wear your stretchy pants!

Old Homestead Steakhouse

thick sliced bacon

Old Homestead is located in Caesar’s Palace near the sportsbook. It is a classic steakhouse. We always have a great time when we eat here. Our favorite appetizer is the Thick-Cut Applewood Smoked Bacon. It is sliced and grilled and served with house steak sauce. The BEST!

giant meatball

Our second favorite appetizer is the Old Homestead Signature Meatball: beef, pork & veal blend served with marinara and ricotta. I get this as my entree sometimes. YUM!

sliced steak

You can never go wrong with the filet. It is seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection!

skillet of scalloped potaotes

I can never resist cheesy scalloped potatoes. These are the cheesiest around.

slice of chocolate cake

Our go-to dessert is the Big Fat Chocolate Cake: chocolate cake layered with chocolate mousse and drizzled with melted chocolate. Have mercy!

Rí Rá Irish Pub – Las Vegas

irish pub bar

Rí Rá Irish Pub is a new favorite. We came here on our most recent trip and fell in LOVE! The bar is custom-made from salvaged materials straight from Ireland. There are three different bars in the restaurant. We sat at the Victorian Bar.

puff pastry sausage rolls

The Irish Sausage Rolls were a huge hit! Puff pastry stuffed with sausage and served with a Guinness mustard sauce. We scarfed these down. I am definitely going to recreate this at home.

plate of wings

We sampled two types of chicken wings – Guinness BBQ and Wild. The wild wings are super spicy! I might get mild next time. We both LOVED the Guinness BBQ wings – crazy good!

fish and chips

The fish and chips are the best we’ve ever eaten. Super crispy and flaky. You MUST try this!

hamburger topped with onion rings

We loved the Guinness BBQ wings so much, that we tried the Guinness BBQ Burger -grilled beef patty, house Guinness BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, beer-battered onion rings, lettuce, tomato on a toasted bun. We got an order of hand-cut chips (fries) to go with it. Both were delicious.

whiskey bread pudding

The most popular dessert is the Whiskey Bread Pudding. It takes 30 minutes to make, and it is totally worth the wait! OMG! This is heaven in a pan.

Rí Rá Irish Pub is located at the shops at Mandalay Bay. We want to plan a trip here for St. Patrick’s Day. Can you imagine how much fun that would be?!?!

Mastro’s Ocean Club – Las Vegas

outside of mastros las vegas

We discovered Mastro’s Ocean Club a few years ago. It is located in The Shops at Crystals. It is right across from Tiffany & Co. You can’t miss it. It is the coolest place in the building!

bread basket

The bread basket is off the charts delicious! Those pretzel rolls – YUM!

caesar salad

Chicken Legs started with the Caesar Salad. Super delicious!

crab cake

I got a crab cake. It was HUGE and delicious! It wasn’t on the menu on our last visit, but they still have it. Just ask for it. You can order one or two.

sliced steak on a plate

We both got a steak. I got the filet – SO good!

skillet of steakhouse mushrooms

Chicken Legs got the sauteéd mushrooms. They are seasoned with fresh rosemary.

plate of skinny french fries

I love these skinny fries! So crispy and delicious.

steakhouse scalloped potatoes

I got a side of the scalloped potatoes. They are AMAZING! I dream of these potatoes. They weren’t on the menu on our most recent visit. Thankfully I have a copycat recipe on the blog: https://www.plainchicken.com/steakhouse-scalloped-potatoes/

bowl of creamed corn

Since the scalloped potatoes weren’t available, we got an order of the creamed corn. YUM! It reminded me of my favorite skillet corn that I make at home.

butter cake topped with ice cream

For dessert, we went with the Butter Cake. It is topped with ice cream, caramel, and pecans. The cake also comes with a HUGE bowl of fresh whipped cream. It is to-die-for delicious!

Mastro’s is located in The Shops at Crystals. It is right across from Tiffany & Co. The food is fantastic! One of the best steakhouses we’ve eaten at.

Moneyline Pizza & Bar

fried mozzarella bites

Moneyline Pizza & Bar is located in the sportsbook in the Aria Hotel & Casino. We ate there twice on our last visit.

We sampled a few appetizers and a couple of pizzas. They also have salads and sandwiches. I saw some of the sandwiches – I’ll definitely try one next time.

These Fried Mozzarella Bites are delicious! Drizzled with pesto and served with warm marinara.

fried calamari

The Fried Calamari is served with garlic aïoli and marinara sauce.

basket of wings

The wings are offered three ways – buffalo style, hot honey, and smoky
sriracha. It is served with carrots, celery, and ranch or blue cheese dressing. We tried the buffalo-style wings and they were really good. Just enough heat – not too spicy.

Moneyline meats amoré pizza

The Meats Amoré is the most popular pizza on the menu. It is topped with sweet & hot Italian sausage, pepperoni, and soppressata. I love the curly pepperoni cups!

pepperoni pizza with mushrooms

We also had pepperoni, sausage, and half mushroom pizza. Both were delicious!

You can eat in the restaurant or grab a slice to go. They also offer whole pizzas to go.

Carbone – Las Vegas

plate of prosciutto and mozzarella

Carbone is always a MUST on our Vegas trips. We absolutely love it. It is the only place that we go to on every single trip.

Our favorite starter is the fresh mozzarella and prosciutto. They make the mozzarella in-house. It comes to the table warm! The mozzarella is served with three different types of prosciutto – sweet, smoky, and salty. They are all delicious!

caesar salad

Next up, tableside prepared Caesar salad. It is the best Caesar salad EVER. Chicken Legs added the anchovies.

carbone spicy rigatoni vodka

Carbone is famous for its Spicy Rigatoni Vodka. I could eat this pasta every single day of my life. I absolutely LOVE it.

veal parmesan

We’ve tried several entrees at Carbone. The Veal Parmesan is one of the most popular dishes. It looks amazing.

plate of ribs topped with cherry peppers and jalapenos

The Cherry Pepper Ribs are tender and delicious. They are served over some greens with chunks of bacon.

plate of carbone's meatballs

The meatballs are not to be missed. I like to order them as my entree. They aren’t on the menu, but all you have to do is ask for them.

potatoes louie

Potatoes Louie is our favorite side dish. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The potatoes are prepared with duck fat and lots of garlic. SUPER yummy!

chocolate cake

We’ve tried a couple of desserts at Carbone. Most recently this Chocolate Hazlenut Cake – it tastes like a Ferrero Rocher candy truffle. SOOOO good.

lemon cheesecake

The Coconut Cake is also AH-MAZ-ING! I mean, look at that custard! The dessert menu changes all the time. Fingers crossed one of these desserts is on the list when you visit.

Carbone has a great atmosphere. We always sit in the front of the restaurant in the Blue Room. It is very lively! They play great music (all the fun 1960s standards) and the service is top-notch. This is probably the most expensive place that we eat at, so it is always a treat to eat at Carbone.

Yardbird Table & Bar

chicken and waffles

Yardbird is a super popular Southern restaurant located on restaurant row in The Venetian Resort. They are famous for their chicken and waffles: honey hot sauce, chilled spiced watermelon, Vermont sharp cheddar cheese waffle, and bourbon maple syrup.

pouring syrup over chicken and waffles

This might be the best fried chicken we’ve ever eaten. It was as good, if not better than Publix! That is saying a lot!! We also loved the cheddar waffle.

chicken and egg biscuit with gravy

Our most recent visit was during brunch. I got the Chicken Biscuit & Gravy: country gravy, crispy chicken thigh, bacon, and a sunny-side-up farmer’s egg served on a homemade biscuit. Seriously delicious! I was also able to snag the biscuit recipe. I’ll be testing it out soon. I’ll share it if it turns out.

mac and cheese

The 5-Cheese Mac & Cheese is not to be missed. Super creamy and delicious!

chocolate cake with bacon

The GIANT Chocolate Bourbon Bacon Cake tasted as good as it looks. We absolutely LOVED it! It is totally worth a trip to Yardbird just to get this cake.

Yardbird is always super busy. I suggest making reservations or trying to snag a seat at the bar.

Tom Colicchio’s Heritage Steak

jalapeno cheddar biscuits

We first tried Tom Colicchio’s Heritage Steak when we stayed at The Mirage. It has been several years since we dined here, so we headed over for dinner on our most recent trip. The meal started with some cheddar jalapeño biscuits. They are DELICIOUS!

We ordered the Pork Belly appetizer: cider, braised apple, and roasted fennel.

The Romaine Caesar salad is fantastic! It comes with a soft-cooked farm egg and pickled white anchovies.

filet mignon

All of the steaks are cooked on a charcoal grill and seasoned perfectly.

tabasco skirt steak

My favorite steak is the Tabasco-Peppered American Wagyu Skirt Steak. I must recreate this marinade at home.

mushrooms

Chicken Legs got the sauteed button mushrooms.

baked potato

I got the baked potato and added grated parmesan cheese. YUM!

Heritage Steak is located near the lobby at The Mirage. The food and service are fantastic. We prefer to sit at the bar.

  1. Have you tried Favorite Bistro? It’s in The Promenade on the way to the Ferris wheel….their Bloody Mary is a meal! All the food looked so good here!…We can’t wait to go back!

  2. No offense, but your heartburn, upset stomach and nausea isn't from eating too much. It's because you're eating foods made from grains (sprayed with Round Up-yum!), all fried in industrial seed oils, which is super inflammatory, hormone-disrupting and gut destroying (not to mention the damage it's doing to your brain).

  3. I'm going to Vegas next week so your timing is perfect! You have got to try Giada, CUT, and the Burger Bar.

    1. We almost went to CUT on this trip, but someone gave us a gift card to Mastro's. We really need to try Giada's next time too. Adding them to the list.

  4. Wow all that food looks so delicious. Great pics, thanks for sharing. Now I'm hungry lol. Good idea about the Pepto, I should remember that next time I go out to eat because I'm the same way.

    1. The new liquicaps are great for traveling! Just pop a few in your purse – just in case!
I was SO hungry writing this post – I want to book another trip back ASAP!

    2. Hi quick question did any of these restaurants or bars have dress codes? I’m going to Vegas next month and I’m really worried about what to wear to these different places

      1. They really don’t. I’ve been to Catch in super casual clothes after walking around all day and they didn’t bat an eye. We usually just wear nice casual/business casual. Jeans are fine everywhere we’ve been.
