24-Hours in Memphis, TN – where to stay, where to eat and what to do! Gus’ Fried Chicken , Bass Pro Shop, The Peabody Duck March, Huey’s, Beale Street, Gibson Guitar Factory Tour, Central BBQ and The Westin downtown Memphis. #travel #memphis #memphistn
In September, we took a super quick trip to Memphis, TN. We were only in town for 24 hours, but we packed a TON of stuff in the trip! We ate at three great restaurants, got a sno cone, saw the ducks at The Peabody, saw Bruno Mars in concert and took a tour of the Gibson guitar plant. SO much fun! This was only our third time in Memphis and we love it more each time we visit!
Our first stop was at Gus’ Fried Chicken. There was a line, but we were seated in under 30 minutes.
Chicken Legs got the Chicken Tenders with honey mustard.
I went all in with the Fried Chicken Plate with mac & cheese, fried okra and baked beans.
It was DELICIOUS!!!
We wanted to get dessert, but they were sold out of all their pies.
Guess we have to come back on our next trip!
After lunch, we snagged an Uber to the Bass Pro Shop.
It is in the old Pyramid – where the Memphis Grizzlies used to play.
This place is HUGE! It has a hotel, arcade and a roof top restaurant.
It is also home to the highest free-standing elevator in the country!
We couldn’t pass that up! LOL!
Chicken Legs was not a fan of the elevator ride up.
It was totally worth the ticket to get this view of Memphis!
We had a cocktail at the upstairs bar and then headed back downtown.
We decided to see if we could snag a seat for the famous Peabody Duck March.
The duck master leads the ducks to the elevator to head to their rooftop home at 5:00pm daily.
If you don’t have an actual seat in the main lobby, you can’t be in there.
You’ll have to get there early. It fills up!
We got lucky and found two seats at the bar.
After the duck march, we walked across the street for dinner at Huey’s.
We started with the Mozzarella Sticks – YUM!
Chicken Legs got the burger with cheese, bacon and a fried egg.
My burger had cheese, bacon, onion straws and BBQ sauce.
I also got the sweet potato fries – they were AWESOME!!!!
After dinner, we headed to the concert.
Bruno Mars was incredible! One of the best concerts we’ve been to.
We made a quick trip down Beale Street after the concert and then headed back to the hotel.
We signed up for a tour of the Gibson Guitar Factory.
They give tours daily of the factory.
They make the Gibson ES-355 semi-hollow guitars here.
They just announced that they are selling this location on Beale Street and moving somewhere else in Memphis within the next 18 months. Hopefully they will still give tours.
After our Gibson tour, we checked out of the hotel and headed straight to Central BBQ.
It is our FAVORITE BBQ joint!
Chicken Legs got a half-slab of ribs with mac&cheese, fries and baked beans.
I got the BBQ Nachos.
They were ridiculous! TONS of BBQ pork and TONS of cheese.
Wishing I had the leftovers now!
Since we didn’t have a big lunch (LOL!), we made one last stop at Jerry’s Sno Cones.
Everyone told me that we had to come here, so we did!
Isn’t it cute?!?!?
I got the Rainbow Sno Cone Supreme – supreme is with the ice cream on top.
It was delicious!!! It really hit the spot of a hot sunny day.
We stayed right downtown at the Westin.
It was literally across the street from the FedEx Forum and the Gibson Guitar Factory.
Our room was incredible.
The main bathroom was HUGE!!!!
We had another full bathroom in our foyer. It was crazy!
I wish we could have stayed more than one night!
We had a fabulous time in Memphis! We have actually been talking about going back for another night.

You sure packed a lot into your 24 hours – I got a little out of breath just reading about it š
Flight is good, Char is good, so many good places in Memphis. Rock n Dough has a fabulous brunch, so does the Beauty Shop. Come back soon, you haven't even scratched the surface

My hubby and I are TOTAL FOODIES! We have been all over the US,Paris, Italy, Belgium, and many more places and have had fabulous food, but not more fabulous than Flight! It is my absolute #1 fav restaurant in the world! Trust me! Everything comes in āflightsā. I LOVE the flight of chicken and waffles, shrimp n grits and scallops! Hubby goes for the meat trio! Xoxo
Ummm, that sounds amazing! Totally adding that to the list for next time. Thanks!!
What is the price of hotel you stayed that?
It varies – just check Westin.com
My favorite downtown place to eat is Flight. You would really love all those wonderful combinations. My long time old favorite is Paulettes, which is now in Harbor Town, my favorite barbecue is Corky's, and favorite fancy steak place is Folk's Folly. The last time we visited, we went to Char which is near the University of Memphis. We had great food there as well.
