This recipe is from my friend, Joy. This is her “go-to” chili recipe. She makes it all the time and her kids gobble it up! I decided to give it a try, and we both LOVED it! SO easy! It takes less than 30 minutes from start to finish. We ate this two days in a row and enjoyed it both times! It might have actually tasted better the next day after the flavors had time to meld together. All you need is a big hunk of cornbread and dinner is ready in a flash!
Make sure to use a spaghetti sauce that you really enjoy since it is the base for the chili. I used a packet of French’s Chili-O seasoning. It is my favorite chili seasoning. We served the chili with some cooked rice and topped it with sour cream and Fritos. Our standard. Joy likes to serve the chili over fresh-cooked French fries and top it with tons of yummy cheese. I’m totally doing that next time!
1-½ lb ground beef
1 (1.75-oz) package French’s Chili-O seasoning
1 (26-oz) jar spaghetti sauce
1 (15-oz) can chili beans, undrained (OPTIONAL)
In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Drain fat. Stir in chili seasoning, spaghetti sauce and beans if using. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer at least 10 to 15 minutes.
- Serve with your favorite chili fixings or over french fries.
We made this tonight and we all loved it! My husband hates beans so loved this. We topped ours with shredded Mexican cheese, crushed tortilla chips, and fresh avocado slices. Delicious!
The picture looks like there are beans in the chili?
