3 Uniquely New York Things to do in NYC – a magic show at the Waldorf-Astoria, a Sinatra tribute band and a pizza tour on a yellow school bus! You MUST do them all on your next trip to NYC!
A few weeks ago, we made a trip to NYC for Chicken Legs’ birthday. It was the best trip we have even taken to NYC! We’ve been planning it for a while and did three really unique things on the trip.
We went to a magic show at the Waldorf-Astoria, saw a Sinatra tribute band and went on a pizza tour on a yellow school bus!
I want to do all three of these things again on our next trip!
Steve Cohen’s Chamber Magic show in the Waldorf-Astoria Towers was AMAZING!
Chicken Legs LOVES magic. Since it was his birthday, we got front row center seats.
Steve did some of the best magic tricks I’ve ever seen! The show lasted about 90 minutes.
The show is on the 35th floor of the Waldorf Towers. That is the floor that has the Presidential Suite.
Every president since Herbert Hoover in 1931 has stayed in the Presidential Suite on the 35th floor of the Waldorf Towers.
We were in a large suite (not the Presidential Suite) on the 35th floor for the magic show. The Pope once met with the President of the United States in the room we sat in for the show!
One of the most impressive tricks was the “Think a Drink”. Everyone in the room wrote down their favorite drink on a card. We passed them down the rows to one person. Steve called someone out of the audience to come up front and shuffle the cards. That person selected 5 cards. He handed them out to random people in the audience and put one his his coat pocket. Steve had the first person call out their drink – Pina Colada. Steve picked up a tea pot he had on the table, swirled it around, and poured a shot of Pina colada. Steve did this 4 more times – red wine, vitamin water, manhattan and finally yoo-hoo. The tea pot never left our site. I have NO idea how he did that!
We found the Carnegie Club on our last trip to NYC.
It was on the top of our list to visit on this most recent trip.
The Carnegie Club is located on West 56th Street.
It is a Cocktail and Cigar Lounge.
Every Saturday night, Steven Maglio sings at the Club.
He sings Sinatra and other popular big band songs.
What an experience!
There are two shows on Saturday night.
We went to the late show. We are going to the early show next time (and probably staying for the late show).
