Roly Poly is one of our favorite lunch spots. All the sandwiches are SO good. One of our favorites is #52 Hickory Chicken. I got a new sandwich press recently and decided to make a version of the sandwich at home. OMG! SO good! Sliced chicken breast, melted cheddar cheese, onions, mushrooms, bacon, BBQ sauce grilled golden brown and served with a side of ranch dressing! We both love this wrap! When we get it at the restaurant, I get it without mushrooms and onions. Chicken Legs gets it all the way! YUM!
How to Make Roly Poly’s #52 Hickory Chicken
These sandwich wraps are super easy to make. Start with placing a slice of cheddar cheese on a tortilla. Top it with sliced chicken, thinly sliced onion, mushrooms, bacon, and BBQ sauce. Fold the edges of the tortilla to the middle and place on a panini press. Cook until golden brown. Serve with a side of ranch dressing for dipping.
- I made my sandwiches in the Breville Panini Press. I bought it at Amazon. You can use my affiliate link to buy it: https://amzn.to/3jw2CoU
- If you don’t have a sandwich press, you can cook the wraps in a non-stick skillet like a grilled cheese sandwich. Use a griddle press to press the sandwich down in the skillet.
- Roly Poly uses Tyson Grilled Chicken Strips. I bought the chicken at Walmart.
- Feel free to use any cooked chicken in the wraps.
- Here is our favorite recipe for grilled chicken tenders: https://www.plainchicken.com/grilled-honey-lime-chicken/
- Roly Poly uses Ken’s Ranch Dressing. Bonus – it is low-carb!
- Here is our recipe for Homemade Ranch Dressing: https://www.plainchicken.com/copycat-outback-ranch-dressing/
- I used Sweet Baby Ray’s for the BBQ sauce in the wrap.
- For a low-carb wrap, use a low-carb/sugar-free BBQ sauce such as G Hughes’ Smokehouse Sugar-Free BBQ Sauce.
- I always use La Banderita Carb Counter White Tortillas. The soft taco size only has 45 calories and tastes great!
- You can use any tortilla you enjoy in this recipe.
- Use gluten-free tortillas for a gluten-free meal.

Enjoyed these! I used my George Foreman to press the wraps for 1 minute and it worked beautifully. I just used plain grilled chicken with some salt and pepper this time, but next time I think I'll do a quick marinade with the Lawry's Buffalo BBQ 30-minute marinade.
I have seen all your posts recreating this wraps from Roly Poly and I kept wishing that we had one! Well low and behold I found out that we do have one here In Lynchburg! Tried it last night and I found a new place to grab dinner on my way to work! I will definitely be trying this hickory chicken one today for lunch 🙂
ooh fun! We love our panini press too but have never used wraps in there–great idea! Isn't it awesome recreating restaurant faves?! 🙂
We used to have a Roly Poly here but they closed years ago. I thought they were a stand alone store, didn't realize that they were a chain. I loved that place.
These look good, Steph. I hadn't thought of using our press like that. Great idea.
Never thought of using my grill press for wraps, but I like the look! Chicken tenders are our favorites too…
Ooooh that looks tasty!! Can't wait to try it. How cute is your blog! Hope you and your chicken legs enjoy the tuscan pork. It is yummmay 🙂
I LOVE Roly Poly, but there's not one anywhere around where I live. 🙁 I once saved a menu to give me some sandwich ideas, but I have since lost it. This wrap looks yummy!
This is such a quick and tasty looking wrap. I might have to keep my mushrooms and onions;)
Oh yea, I can see why that's a favorite!
Looks and sounds great. I like all the ingredients in this recipe.
