Hi, I’m Stephanie Parker, author and recipe developer of PlainChicken.com which features quick and easy recipes made with everyday ingredients. All of the recipes are easy to make after a hectic day at work and are guaranteed to please the pickiest eaters.
I am a lifelong Southerner and currently reside in Hoover, AL with my husband and three cats.
I started Plain Chicken WAY back in 2007 as a way to keep track of recipes. Once I discovered food blogs were a thing on the internet, I started making, creating and photographing recipes for myself. In 2012, I quit my corporate accounting job to focus on Plain Chicken full-time. This blog is a reflection of what goes on every day in my kitchen. I don’t cook a lot of fancy food, but it is all good food!
Why “Plain Chicken”?
I am sure you might be wondering why the name of the blog is “Plain Chicken”. Growing up, I was not an adventurous eater (I’m still not, but I am getting better) and I would always order the chicken “plain” when we went out to eat. My brother constantly made fun of me. If anyone asked me what I was going to order to eat before I could answer, my younger brother would chime in with “plain chicken”. I was thinking up a good name for the blog and I thought “Plain Chicken” fit perfectly. (And, yes, I still order my chicken sandwiches “plain” in a restaurant.)

This is a great post to see what we are all about!
Tailgating recipes are some of my favorite recipes! I grew up in Auburn, AL going to Auburn University football games. War Eagle! Since I grew up tailgating, I decided it would be fun to share all of my favorite tailgating recipes on the blog during the football season. Every Friday from the beginning of college football to the Super Bowl, I share a brand new tailgating/party recipe. You can check out all my previous Football Friday tailgating recipes – they are my favorite!
What does Crack Mean?
You are going to see a lot of recipes with “crack” in the title.
If a recipe has crack in the title it means that it has cheddar, bacon, and ranch in the recipe. It all started with my Crack Dip way back in 2007. I made the dip for a Titans football game. Everyone went crazy over it. We couldn’t stop eating it and said it was like crack. The name stuck. The flavor combination is amazing!
You can find all of the Cracked Out recipes here: https://www.plainchicken.com/category/recipes/crack-recipes/
In addition to delicious recipes, I also post about our travels. I’ve traveled extensively in Europe and North America. My favorite places to go in the USA are Las Vegas, San Diego, and Destin, FL. We recently took our DREAM trip to Italy! It was everything I hoped it would be. Our next big trip is supposed to be to Ireland in 2022. Fingers crossed!
Meet The Team
The Plain Chicken team is a lean mean blogging machine.
Plain Chicken (me – Stephanie) I make all the recipes, photograph them, and write up all the blog posts.
Chicken Legs (my husband, Tadd) is the Chief Tastetester. He is also my photo assistant. He is an excellent pourer and spoon holder! BUT, Chicken Legs’ most important job is cleaning the kitchen! He cleans it all day long!
The rest of the team consists of Mango, Mack, and Felix. They are all super sweet and you can check them out every Monday on Meow Monday!
We adopted all three cats from Kitty Kat Haven in Hoover, AL in June 2019.
Mango & Mack were kittens when we adopted them. They are now three years old. Grandpa Felix is 14 or 15 years old. He was surrendered by his owner and needed a loving home. He adores the babies.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy my culinary adventures.
