What is an Air Fryer?
Do you have an air fryer? OMG! I LOVE mine. I actually love it so much that I have two. SO, what is an air fryer? An air fryer is basically a countertop convection oven. It circulates air around the food for faster cooking. The rapidly circulating air makes the food crispy, much like deep frying but without the need for oil. You also don’t need to preheat the air fryer, making cooking in the air fryer much faster than cooking in the oven. The air fryer is also SUPER easy to clean up. You can put the cooking basket in the dishwasher.
We love to cook french fries, chicken tenders, frozen snacks, burgers, pizza, and steaks. We use our air fryer at least twice a week. I have the Philips XXL Air Fryer and the Philips XL Air Fryer. I love them both, but I definitely recommend the Philips XXL Air Fryer. It is larger and can cook an entire meal at once.
How to Make Steak Tips and Mushrooms in the Air Fryer
These Air Fryer Steak Tips & Mushrooms are SO easy to make. Start with a couple of ribeye steaks. Cut them into bite-sized pieces and place in a bowl. Add some sliced mushrooms, onion soup mix, olive oil, and Worcestershire sauce. Toss to coat and throw into the air fryer. Let the steak and mushrooms cook for about 8 to 10 minutes and dinner is done!
If you don’t like mushrooms, feel free to leave them out. Sliced fresh onions and bell peppers would be good with the steak and mushrooms. You can also add a little blue cheese to the steak and mushrooms. I would add the cheese during the last couple of minutes of the cooking time. YUM!

I really loved this recipe. It was really tasty and juicy. My husband is a very picky eater., a meat and potatoes guy. He went back for seconds. I made in a cast iron pan but it came out so good.
This was unexpectedly good. I mean, it sounded good but wow!
The only thing is that if you use the air fryer basket as instructed you’ll have drippings all over your air fryer. You need to put foil down under the basket. The instructions didn’t mention this and I even scoured the comments to see if anyone brought it up or maybe I was misunderstanding what basket to use? But the recipe author confirmed it was the same basket used for making fries. Luckily I anticipated the mess and used foil but someone else might not know to do this.
I NEVER line my air fryer with foil. I guess it just depends on your particular air fryer. But I do NOT recommend it.
This was very good! I was skeptical putting steak in air fryer but very impressed. Moist and flavorful! I also added peppers and onions.
Can you substitute boneless chicken instead of the steak tips?
sure!
My family loved this and it was so easy!!! We will definitely be making this again.
SO glad you enjoyed it, Pam!
Can the onion soup mix be left out?
I am so trying this on Saturday!!! My husband bought me an air fryer for Christmas last year and I barely use it lol
I love the air fryer for dishes like this! No miss our other air fryer recipes: https://www.plainchicken.com/category/recipes/air-fryer/
Want to try this, but how many servings will this receipe feed? There are just two of us.
I have the air fryer oven…any ideas? No basket just grates…
A sheet pan?
Yes, what’s the best way to cook this without an air fryer? It sounds delicious!
You could make it in the oven. Try it at 425ºF until the steak reaches your desired temperature.
would I cook half in the Phillips XL air fryer?
You may need to cook the steak and mushrooms in batches in a smaller air fryer.
Do you put the meat and mushrooms in a pan then put it in the Air Fryer? Or do I just put it on the “grate” that I use for french fries?
I just put the meat and mushrooms in the basket like french fries.
Does it have a saucey consistency on meat after frying.
Mine wasn’t saucy after being cooked in the air fryer.
Is this 2 1lb steaks (2lbs total) or 2 steaks that equal 1lb?
2 pounds total
I don't have an air fryer but this dish looks delicious
