What is an Air Fryer?

Do you have an air fryer? OMG! I LOVE mine. I actually love it so much that I have two. SO, what is an air fryer? An air fryer is basically a countertop convection oven. It circulates hot air around the food for faster cooking. The rapidly circulating air makes the food crispy, much like deep frying but without the need for oil. You also don’t need to preheat the air fryer, making cooking in the air fryer much faster than cooking in the oven. The air fryer is also SUPER easy to clean up. You can put the cooking basket in the dishwasher.

We love to cook french fries, chicken wings, frozen snacks, burgers, pizza, and steaks. We use our air fryer at least twice a week. I have the Philips XXL Air Fryer and the Philips XL Air Fryer. I love them both, but I definitely recommend the Philips XXL Air Fryer. It is larger and can cook an entire meal at once.

How to Make Steak Tips and Mushrooms in the Air Fryer

These Air Fryer Steak Tips & Mushrooms are SO easy to make. Start with a couple of boneless ribeye steaks. Cut the steaks into bite size pieces and place in a bowl. Add some fresh sliced mushrooms, onion soup mix, olive oil, and Worcestershire sauce. Toss to coat. Place the steak pieces and mushrooms in the bottom of the air fryer basket. Cook for about 8 to 10 minutes, until the steak has reached the desired internal temperature.

  • If you don’t like mushrooms, feel free to leave them out. Sliced fresh onions and bell peppers would be good with the steak and mushrooms.
  • This recipe works with all types of steak. Rib eye steak, sirloin steak, new york strip steak all work great. Just use the cut of steak that you personally enjoy.
  • You can season the steak with any of your favorite seasonings. Chili powder, soy sauce, garlic powder, steak seasoning, red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, teriyaki sauce, or bbq sauce are all delicious!
  • You can also add a little blue cheese to the steak and mushrooms for extra flavor. I would add the cheese during the last couple of minutes of the cooking time. YUM!
  • The cook time will just depend on what internal temperature you want and how thick the steak bites are. Use a meat thermometer to cook the steaks to your preferred doneness.
  • Rare 120º to 125ºF
  • Medium-Rare 125º to 135ºF
  • Medium 125º to 145ºF
  • Medium-Well 145º to 155ºF
  • Well-Done 155ºF+

  1. I just came across your website and made this. HOLY MOLY it is SO DELICIOUS!!!!!! And so easy too! Thank you!!!

  2. Just made this for supper tonight…followed the directions and just added a sprinkle of Montreal steak seasoning! It was super easy and tasted delicious. I made rice as a side and used the pan juice as a gravy!

  3. This sounds delicious, but I do not own a airfryer….can it be made in a crockpot? And if so, for how long? Thanks!

  4. I really loved this recipe. It was really tasty and juicy. My husband is a very picky eater., a meat and potatoes guy. He went back for seconds. I made in a cast iron pan but it came out so good.

  5. This was unexpectedly good. I mean, it sounded good but wow!

The only thing is that if you use the air fryer basket as instructed you’ll have drippings all over your air fryer. You need to put foil down under the basket. The instructions didn’t mention this and I even scoured the comments to see if anyone brought it up or maybe I was misunderstanding what basket to use? But the recipe author confirmed it was the same basket used for making fries. Luckily I anticipated the mess and used foil but someone else might not know to do this.

    1. I NEVER line my air fryer with foil. I guess it just depends on your particular air fryer. But I do NOT recommend it.

  6. This was very good! I was skeptical putting steak in air fryer but very impressed. Moist and flavorful! I also added peppers and onions.

  7. I am so trying this on Saturday!!! My husband bought me an air fryer for Christmas last year and I barely use it lol

  8. Do you put the meat and mushrooms in a pan then put it in the Air Fryer? Or do I just put it on the “grate” that I use for french fries?
