Pin This RecipeI’ve made a ton of savory bubble up biscuit casserole recipes on the blog. I love them all. This is the first sweet bubble up! The recipe came from Plain Chicken reader, Jenny. She sent me this idea forever ago and I finally got around to making it. One word – YUM!
This dessert is super easy to make. Simply toss together a can of chopped refrigerated biscuits, cinnamon, and apple pie filling. Spread the mixture into a baking dish and bake. Drizzle the baked casserole with a quick powdered sugar and milk glaze and serve.
Please note that I used a can of the smaller biscuits, not the Grands. I used a can of 10-count biscuits that were 12-oz. The Grands are 16-oz. If you use Grands biscuits, you may need to adjust the cooking time.
We loved this Apple Pie Bubble Up. We especially loved it heated with some vanilla ice cream. Jenny’s recipe had some brown sugar and pecans in it. I would have added that to my recipe as well, but I didn’t reread the recipe before I made it. If you are a fan of the savory Bubble Ups on the blog, give this sweet version a try! You will love it!

We grew up eating this but without the butterscotch chips. My mom called it apple Brown Betty but as an adult I learned Apple Brown Betty was an entirely different dish. I LOVE this desert. Quick & easy & delicious. I’ve always wanted to know what to call it, so thank you!
Will it work with blueberries ?
Any pie filling will work.
I dont like the flavor of those can biscuits so wonder how a homemade biscuit would work?
No clue.
Can you prepare ahead and bake the next morning?
That should be fine
Thank you for this delicious, easy recipe! My hubby asked that I cut the biscuits smaller next time, and then asked if I would make it for a church dinner this Sunday. 🙂
Tried this yesterday and it was great. I have a freezer full of apples so I made my own filling. Not a fan of butterscotch so I will leave those out next time. This is a diverse recipe, you can make it the way you like. Brown sugar and pecans next time for sure. Thanks Steph for the recipe! War Eagle from G'ville, Al
This was delicious! I've made a bunch of your bubble ups, but this was the first dessert I've tried like this. Thanks!
I can't wait to make this! I will probably add the pecans and brown sugar on top before baking.
What do the butterscotch chips add to the flavour. I'm not really a fan of butterscotch.
Think this would work with a can of cinnamon rolls instead of the biscuits? I can't wait to make this!
Cinnamon rolls would work great. Almost used them in this but didn't have any in the fridge.
Oh my….yum. e.
I second it! I love adding pecans to desserts. I wouldn't mind having those directions as well. I think I'll make this for our "picnic potluck" this evening!

Would you please share how to add the brown sugar & pecans too?
I love seeing all your bubble up recipes but I may actually try this one. It looks scrumptious!!
