Pin This RecipeThis Au Jus Mushroom Rice was a huge hit in our house! Chicken Legs is a HUGE mushroom fan, so he ate two big helpings of this easy rice with dinner. Rice, beef broth, au jus gravy mix and mushrooms. YUM! We eat this rice as a side, but you could add some cooked ground beef or leftover pork tenderloin and make a meal out of this recipe. LOVE recipes that can do double duty!
This rice is super easy to make. Start with sautéing the mushrooms and rice in some butter in a skillet. Cook the mixture just until the rice starts to brown. Add some beef broth, onion, au jus gravy mix, and oregano. Bring to a boil and let it simmer until the rice has cooked. SO easy.
We served this Au Jus Mushroom Rice with some delicious grilled steaks. It was perfect. The rice takes about 20 to 25 minutes to cook and absorb the liquid. I usually start the rice when Chicken Legs starts prepping the grill and the steaks and rice are done about the same time. Perfect!

We enjoyed this quick, easy side dish, made exactly as written. Great recipe that leaves a ton of room for variations – adding meat, other veggies, etc.
So glad you enjoyed it. I agree that this is a great base recipe to get creative with.
Delicious! Added peas and carrots.
My family loves this so much! Thank you for sharing
Thank you! Was really good! Great with steaks!
The only ingredient I don’t have is the gravy mix. Is it ok if I leave it out, or is there something I can substitute?
would this work with brown rice for the same cooking time
No – brown rice takes much longer to cook. Check the package for cooking times
How would you adapt to an Instant Pot.
Do you think this would work with cauliflower rice?
