Party Meatballs Recipe

These Awesome Sauce Meatballs were the star of our football party last weekend. OMG! They are loaded with tons of great flavor! They are ridiculously easy to make with only 4 ingredients and are ready to eat in about 30 minutes. This is the perfect appetizer for watching all the games this weekend or even a quick lunch/dinner. Throw some french fries in the air fryer and you are set!

What is Awesome Sauce?

Awesome sauce is a combination of hot sauce, teriyaki sauce, and honey mustard. The idea came from a sandwich I ate at a local sports bar. The sauce was so good. I asked the waitress what was in it. She asked the cook and came back with the ingredients. We’ve been making the sauce at home ever since.

How to Make Awesome Sauce Party Meatballs

These meatball appetizers are super easy to make. In a Dutch oven, combine honey mustard dressing, teriyaki sauce, and hot sauce. Season with salt and black pepper, if desired. Add a bag of frozen meatballs. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir well and simmer on the stove top for 20 to 25 minutes. Transfer meatballs to a large bowl and enjoy. Serve with toothpicks.

  • This recipe uses a thick teriyaki sauce. I use Sweet Baby Ray’s.
  • For the honey mustard dressing, I use Ken’s or Sweet Baby Ray’s.
  • Are Awesome Sauce Meatballs spicy? Yes. There is a definite kick from the hot sauce in this recipe. Feel free to reduce the hot sauce to your personal preference. Start with half of the hot sauce amount and add a  teaspoon at a time until you reach the desired heat.
  • I used premade frozen meatballs in this recipe. There is no need to thaw them before cooking.
  • Can use ground beef meatballs or turkey meatballs for this recipe.
  • I buy the smaller 1/2-ounce meatballs. Feel free to use larger meatballs if you prefer.
  • Can I make Awesome Sauce Meatballs in the Crockpot? Yes! In a small bowl, whisk together honey mustard dressing, teriyaki sauce, and hot sauce. Place frozen meatballs in a crockpot. Pour sauce mixture over the meatballs and cook on LOW for a couple of hours. Keep the meatballs in the slow cooker during the party and they will stay nice and warm.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
    • Reheat meatballs in the microwave, on the stovetop, or in a baking pan covered in aluminum foil in the oven.

Glazed Meatballs for a Crowd

These crockpot meatballs are easy to double or triple for a crowd. I usually at least double the recipe for our get-togethers. These things go fast! We like to dip the meatballs in Ranch dressing.

I love how easy this recipe is to make. I always have the ingredients on hand so I can whip these yummy meatballs anytime we get the craving! As I said, these are great as an appetizer or a main dish over rice or mashed potatoes. Serve them with some Teriyaki Asparagus or Honey Garlic Green Beans – YUM!

  1. Wow, and I mean WOW were these fantastic! Made them in the slow cooker 2 1/2 hours on low done to perfection. After mixing sauces together I tried a little bit on a spoon and said, hmmmm I’m not so sure about this. But once mix with the meatballs and cooked low and slow the flavors melded together beautifully. Now I need a martini!

  2. We made these for our Sunday football feast and they were great! Thanks for the easy recipe that I am sure we will keep making regularly!

  3. Just a quick question. You say you used Ken’s Honey Mustard dressing, however in the picture you show Sweet Baby Ray’s Honey Mustard. Is it Ken’s that you used or Ray’s? Thank you! Making these on Sunday. Can’t wait!
