How to Make Cream Cheese Chicken Alfredo Casserole

This casserole is super easy to make with only a few simple ingredients. Start with cooking the pasta noodles on the stovetop over medium-high heat according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside. Next, combine minced garlic cloves and softened cream cheese with the cooked pasta. Stir in cooked chopped chicken, salt, pepper, Alfredo sauce, and Parmesan cheese. Spread the pasta mixture into a lightly greased baking dish, top with mozzarella cheese, and bake until bubbly. Garnish the casserole with some fresh parsley and enjoy.

Tips & Frequently Asked Questions

  • I use spaghetti noodles. You can use any pasta that you prefer. Penne, fettuccine, or linguine also work great.
  • I use a rotisserie chicken for the cooked chopped chicken in this casserole. You can use any cooked chicken that you enjoy. Chicken breasts, chicken thighs, cutlets, or chicken tenderloins will all work fine. You can use grilled, roasted, or pan-seared chicken. You will need about 4 cups of chicken.
  • Feel free to add some vegetables to the casserole. Spinach, roasted red peppers, or chopped broccoli are all great.
  • You want the cream cheese to be very soft so it gets fully incorporated into the rice mixture. Microwave the cream cheese for 15 to 20 seconds if you are short on time.
  • My favorite store-bought Alfredo sauce is  Rao’s Alfredo Sauce. It is a bit expensive, so sometimes I also use Trader Joe’s Alfredo Sauce or Bertolli Garlic Alfredo Sauce.
  • Feel free to substitute your favorite homemade Alfredo sauce recipe for the jarred sauce.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat the pasta in the microwave.
  • Can Chicken Alfredo Casserole be made in advance? Yes! You can assemble the casserole and refrigerate it overnight before baking. If you are baking this straight out of the refrigerator, you may need to add a few minutes to the cooking time.
  • Can You Freeze Chicken Alfredo Casserole? Yes! Assemble the casserole and let it cool completely. Cover the pan with plastic wrap and aluminum foil and freeze.
    • To bake this casserole after freezing, thaw completely and bake as directed below.
    • To reheat this casserole after freezing, thaw completely and cover with aluminum foil. Bake at 350ºF for 30 to 40 minutes.
    • You can also slice the leftover pasta into individual servings and freeze it.
