I came up with this idea after I met a friend for lunch at McAlister’s. I hadn’t been to McAlister’s in ages, so I went online before I went to check out the menu. Everything looked good, especially “The Godfather” on the secret menu. It was a roast beef sandwich topped with pizza sauce and cheese. OMG! All my favorites in one sandwich. I knew I had to make a version of this at home.
I decided to wrap all the flavors up in a crescent roll. (Isn’t everything better in a crescent roll?) Chicken Legs really liked these. I did too! They were even good reheated for lunch the next day. Not as good as when they were hot out of the oven, but still very tasty!
Beef Pizzaiola Crescents
- 1/2 pound deli roast beef, thinly sliced
- 8 slices mozzarella cheese
- 2/3 cup pizza sauce
- 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Separate crescent rolls into 8 triangles. Top each crescent with 1/2 slice mozzarella cheese. Brush roast beef slices with pizza sauce and place on top of cheese. Roll up crescents and place on baking sheet. Top with another 1/2 slice of mozzarella cheese. Repeat with remaining crescents.
Bake for approximately 15 minutes or until golden brown.
