Pizza Dough Made with 2 Ingredients

I have a confession. My usual weeknight pizza is made from a box. We love the Chef Boyardee Pizza Kit. It is Chicken Legs’ favorite pizza. He prefers it over any other pizza – homemade or restaurant. I didn’t have a pizza kit in the pantry for pizza night last week, so I made a quick pizza crust from Bisquick. I was worried that Chicken Legs’ wouldn’t like it, but he declared that he liked it better than the Chef Boyardee crust. WOW! He really, really likes the Chef Boyardee, so I knew the crust was a keeper.

How to Make Bisquick Pizza Crust

With only two ingredients, this pizza dough is a snap to make. Simply mix together the Bisquick and hot water. Stir the mixture until it forms a ball. Lightly coat the dough with some olive oil and place in a bowl. Cover the dough with a towel and let it rest in a warm place for about 10 minutes or so.

Once the dough has rested, place it on a pizza pan or on some parchment paper and press/roll out into a circle. Top the dough with your favorite pizza sauce, cheese, and toppings. Pop the pizza in the oven and you are done.

  1. Probably a silly question and I can’t find if it’s stated. What size pizza does this make?
I’m only asking to see if I could cook this in the toaster oven or would I need to use my full size oven.
    Thanks!

    1. It will just depend on how thick you roll the crust. I roll it out to be about 12″ to 14″ and use my regular oven. You could make two small pizzas instead of one big pizza for the toaster oven.

  2. making this tonight! I wanted the CB box kit as thats what my mom used to use. It was one of my favorite meals as a kid. Shes been deceased for 2yrs now, today is her birthday and Im celebrating her by making this pizza. <3 I was able to find the sauce so thats good! Hope this crust is similar, by the sounds of it, it is. Plus I havent had this in over 40 years….so will I remember? who knows.

  3. How does compare to pre- made pizza dough sold in supermarkets ? Just bought an outside pizza oven . Would love to try it in it . Thanks

  4. Tasty and quick pizza dough. I added garlic and Italian seasoning to my crust, followed by pre-baking for 5 minutes. I baked a total of three pizzas at one time. BBQ (regular and sugar-free sauce)grilled chicken with crispy pepper strips and French fried onions & a plain cheese pizza. All were hits.

  5. This reminds me of the Chef Boy Ardee pizza mix BUT BETTER! Made a pizza today and we loved it!!

  6. I mix a tablespoon of Italian seasoning into the dough and also pre-bake it for 5 mins before adding toppings. I use a non-stick pizza pan with holes on the bottom. Prebaking and the pan ensure an even cook and a decently crisp bottom to the pie.

    1. I tried this pizza crust and it’s the best ever . THANK YOU . Now I can make great pizzas for my family. Before I would use flour with the Bisquick and the dough never came out right

  7. I made this with regular Bisquick and also gluten free. The gluten free version took nearly twice as much water. I prebaked the gluten free crust about 5 minutes. I made these on pizza stones. The gluten free sat for probably at least 10 minutes before I cut it. I think it helps to sit there on the stone for a bit. The crusts were different but both quick and good. If you are looking for a thicker gluten free crust, instead of the thin you usually find, this is a good choice. Overall this recipe takes about as long as cooking a frozen pizza but quicker and better.

      1. Yes – roll it as thin as you want. We prefer thin crust and this recipe works great. Just need a larger pizza pan or baking sheet.

  8. Thanks for this. It’s a pretty decent pizza dough when you are in a pinch! And for the record, I too think Chef Boyardee makes the absolute best pizza dough and sauce. I don’t care what the pizza snobs say, it’s awesome and I would pit it against any restaurant pizza I have eaten. (and I’ve eaten a LOT!) I love the flavor of their sauce and the dough is light and fluffy and very tasty.
Here’s a tip if you want the Boyardee crust and decide to make say, an alfredo pizza instead of red sauce. I still buy the box of Chef Boyardee pizza mix and you can use that leftover can of sauce to add to your spaghetti sauce, chili or any number of things. Nothing goes to waste. 🙂

  9. Used the crust recipe to make a 3 cheese pizza. Came together fast and was tasty 🙂 Thanks for the recipe Steph! I had no idea just Bisquick and water made a tasty pizza crust.

  10. My boys are getting old enough to cook for themselves. This would be a great pizza crust recipe for them to try! And of course, I'll be trying it myself! 🙂

  11. This looks awesome! And no shame in pizza kits – when I was a child, my brother and I loooooved pizza night made from a pizza kit. I haven't had one in years and now I think I might buy one at the grocery to see if it's just as delicious as I remember. =) Or I could try this fantastic recipe! =D
