Do you have to use coffee in the cake? I have atrial fibrillation and cannot have caffeine in any form, but this cake sounds wonderful. Can another liquid be substituted? If so, what is your recommendation for the liquid and how much, the same amount as the coffee?
You may need to stay away from the cake entirely, as cocoa powder also has caffeine.
This cake is epic! I knew when I read the recipe this morning, that I’d be making it this afternoon. It was simple & delicious.
My sister has been making this cake for years. Peanutbutter frosting is a favorite around here and goes well on this cake. I believe she got the recipe out of the 1974 Pennsylvania State Grange cookbook.
