Calgary, AB Canada – where to stay, what to do and where to eat! The BEST burgers, crazy milkshakes and ice cream. Also the best spot to watch the sunset.
I just got back from an AMAZING trip to Canada.
I went to Calgary, Lake Louise and Banff with two friends (
Amanda and
Heather ).
We had the best time. Canada is incredibly beautiful!
The weather was fantastic and the scenery was unreal.
We flew into Calgary and spent a total of three nights in the city.
We walked everywhere and ate just about everything the city had to offer!!
It was a great location. We could walk everywhere!
The Westin gave us each our own room.
The Heavenly Bed is THE BEST!!

Calgary Tower
The Calgary Tower is 626′ high.
There isn’t an outdoor observation deck, but you can still get great views of the city.
The main feature of the Calgary Tower is the glass floor on one side of the tower.
You can see straight down! I did not have the guts to stand on it.
I sat down and leaned over to get this photo. HA!

I want to bring Chicken Legs back so we can eat and drink our way down the street.
Stephen Avenue Walk
Prince’s Island Park and The Peace Bridge
Prince’s Island Park was my favorite area of Calgary.
We arrived on the first day of Fall and Mother Nature did not disappoint us!
You have incredible views of The Peace Bridge and the city skyline from the park.
The sunsets were AMAZING!!!
The Peace Bridge at night – it is a pedestrian and bike bridge.

**What We Ate**
Hayden Block Smoke & Whiskey
BBQ is a thing in Calgary. Several of the top restaurants on Yelp are BBQ joints.
We had a fabulous meal at Hayden Block Smoke and Whiskey.
We got a sampling of all the favorites.
Smoked Turkey, Brisket, Pulled Pork, Beef Short Rib, Green Beans, Baked Beans and Slaw.
The Beef Short Rib was HUGE!!
It looked like a dinosaur bone!
The Mac & Cheese – OMG! YUM!
You can’t have BBQ without cornbread.
We LOVED the jalapeño cornbread muffins. It came with yummy maple butter.
The Tipsy Texan
Pulled Pork, Smoked Sausage and Slaw
For dessert we sampled the Peach Cobbler.
We also tried the pecan pie – two thumbs up!!
Hayden Block Smoke & Whiskey smokes all their meats in house.
They brought the smoker straight from Texas!
Our favorite meat was the brisket. It was crazy good.
I want to try the wings next time.

Burger 320
Burger 320 has a couple of locations in Calgary.
We went to the Kensington neighborhood location since it was walking distance from the Westin.
The burgers are handmade daily.
They make their own buns and grind their own meat daily.
I got my burger topped with bacon and cheese curds.
Amanda added an egg. YUM!
We all got the Parmesan Garlic Fries – SO GOOD!!
Dessert!!!
I have to admit that we actually went to Burger 320 for the Gelato Tacos.
Freshly made waffle shells, filled with gourmet homemade gelato and topped with your choice of fun toppings.
I got Salted Caramel and Broken Chocolate gelato.
SO SO SO good!!
The owner gave us a cup of their award winning Maple Bacon Mini Donut gelato.
I can see why they won awards for this creation. YUM!

I got the My Friends R Nuts – nutella, hazelnuts, whipped cream and brownies.
SO good!!
While we were there, the owner brought us a Raindrop Cake.
Have you seen this before?
It is best described as jello-like.

LOVED the chicken and waffle cones.
Waffle cones filled with slaw and fried chicken fingers.
I also tried my very first Ramen Burger.
I liked it! A lot!
The tater tots and sauce were my absolute favorite though.
I was so full, but I managed to eat them all!

Canada is very vast and has manay places to visit. I really liked your blog.
I live in Calgary and am so happy you were able to come and visit our great city. Thank you for the most amazing photos and can't wait to see the Lake Louise and Banff photos as it is so beautiful in those areas and they are very special places. We live about 1 hour from Banff and don't seem to get there as often as we would like so seeing your photos, I'm sure, will be wonderful. Thank you for visiting and I hope you get the chance to return soon.
