These Easy Cheesy Pesto Breadsticks are a new favorite in our house. They are super easy to make with only 4 simple ingredients and ready to eat in about 15 minutes. Not only are these breadsticks easy to make, but they also taste great! They are good as a side dish with any meal or as an appetizer/meatless main dish dipped in marinara or pizza sauce. YUM! We’ve eaten them both ways and love these cheesy breadsticks. I absolutely love the flavor combination of pesto, gouda, and mozzarella.
Cheesy Breadsticks Made with Pizza Dough
These Cheesy Pesto Breadsticks start with a tube of refrigerated pizza dough. Bake the pizza dough for about 10 minutes and then top it with some prepared pesto, smoked gouda, and mozzarella cheese. Pop the breadsticks back in the oven to finish baking.
- I used a can of regular Pillsbury pizza dough and cut it into 16 strips. I left the strips intact while baking.
- Feel free to swap the cheeses out for your favorites. Pepper Jack, Monterey Jack, cheddar, Dubliner, provolone would all be delicious. I just love the combination of smoky gouda and mozzarella.

These breadsticks go with just about anything. They are good as a side dish or dunked in some warm marinara or pizza sauce. SO good! Think cheesy pizza sticks! YUM!

Cheesy Pesto Breadsticks
Equipment:
Ingredients:
- 1 (13.8-oz) can refrigerated pizza crust
- ½ cup prepared pesto
- 1 cup grated smoked gouda
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 425ºF.
- Unroll pizza dough on to a cookie sheet.
- With a pizza cutter, cut dough lengthwise into 12 long strips. Then cut those in half to make 24 strips. Do not separate strips.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- Remove breadsticks from oven and spread pesto on top of partially baked breadsticks. Top with smoked gouda and mozzarella cheese.
- Bake an additional 5 minutes, until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
